The trip up north was great.
I got a jump on traffics by leaving Mississauga, Ontario, Canada at 7:30 A.M.
Towing the boat was great.
Arrived in Tamiscamingue and instantly met up with my good buddy Steve.
We ran a few errands around town, Dropped the boat off at the Launch , then headed back to the Motel and hooked up with the third Muskateer... George.
Sat around enjoying a few cold ones, had dinner , then decided to play a few of the local video slot machines.

Steve cashed out about 100, I cashed out about 200 and George.... Oh well, so sad.
We hit the sack early due to the drive, the running around and the beer.

Next morning as we sat down to order Breakfast, we were delighted to see the Captain and the Commander pull into the parking lot to join us.
It was delightful to get the weeks scoop from camp.
Who, what where and when.
The only sad news was that they hardly caught anything.
Steve and I looked at each other with a knowing smile knowing not to let that news alter our plans....Bwahahahahahahahaha

After a great good-bye we all departed . Some south and some north.

Unloaded the boats and headed to camp.

Upon arrival, Reggie suggested we head to the North Sanctuary as the fish were turned on the night before.

Headed out and in a record 10 minutes, we were at our destination( normally 30 minutes)
We picked our spot, I lowered my MinnKota and set it into Anchor mode.

Not even 5 minutes and my float was down.
I had it set at 4 feet.
All three of us set our floats at 4 feet and that was it.
The action never stopped
Keep in mind that this was a starting time of noon.
We killed them till 4ish.

Headed in for dinner.
George was tired from all the catching ,so he sat it out in the night shift.
Steve and i thought we would try Smith Bay.
We got to our spot and sat there staring at our floats bobbing around.
Steve hinted that we could be at the north end in ten minutes.
I suggested to wait about 5 more minutes.
Just then his float went down and that was it till 10 P.M.
We hit fish after fish after fish.
Unreal.

That sort of set the tone for the whole week.
The boys came up Wednesday morning and couldn't wait to get out to cash in on the action.
It was excellent fishing had by all.

Ate fish, went home with fish and released fish.

One note.
All our fish were caught in the 3 to 7 foot section of the water column.
Steve was only able to jig a few up off bottom.
99% were caught float fishing with leeches.

Eh question on the bobber fish'n.. Were you fishing the 4 - 7' column suspended over deeper water or  near shore?

And that's all you really want...and a safe trip. Nice report Mr. Rhybak...we all appreciate it here. So the next natural question is....when does the summary video report come out?  ;).

A few of those pictures you published on the "Rhybak's Insider Report" (exclusive membership) would be appreciated by the Board, I'm certain. Me...I would just call it bragging...but will let it go this time.  ;D

29... [ugh]....my buddies want to leave now...so do I...

Great report Ryhbak!!! I still have 23 days to wait out.  How were the bugs and weather?

Goach15

Thanks for the report..sounds like you had a great time..Have to agree with the fish being up off bottom...marked fish at 14-16 feet in 20 FOW last weekend at Laniel end and did really well when we put leeches in front of them..jigging near bottom produced spotty results ...Note..every time I try to post pictures the site tells me that file is too large...any suggestions ?..I am not too computer savvy!!!!

Greg

Awesome ryhbak !   Looking forward to pics/video.

I'm counting down the days - I think I'm at 16 days and counting!

I knew you would get em General.  Those walleyes were there and you had confidence in your spots even if if you did not get an immediate bite.  Still the leech under a float proved to be more effective than the worm. I wonder why. Water temp?  Time of year? Only females bite and not the males?  If only female mosquitoes bite what in the heck do the males do?  Any blue barrel action?

C.C.
You don't get these days back.  Live each day as if it were your last and one day you will be right.

RHYBAK

Bugs were very bad.
Mosquitoes, black flies, horse flies, deer flies, house flies. no-see-ems.
You name it, we had them.

A good layer of deep woods helped tremendously.

Bob
No action at Blue Barrel.
A few guys were there one night and all small fish. No keepers.

Great report RHYBAK.  I'm glad the fishing seems to have turned on.  We are heading out tomorrow aft around 2, and if my week is that good I can't wait.   Actually I just can't wait either way.  Good luck to all!
