General Discussion / Sunnyside opening weekend
Last post by knuckles - April 29, 2024, 11:24:30 AM
Hello my friends!

We got to the Depot-Sunnyside camp on Saterday morning for a quick one day stop in to open up the place.
We left our house super early to make sure we got to camp before the winds picked up.
It was a good thing we did as it got quite windy.
Rain was off and on for the day,in the evening around 10-11pm there was a short but very heavy bout of strong winds and rain.
At the government launch the docks were in.
I would say the lake looks to be about a foot from its summer "normal" levels.
I was told that in the town this year they will need burn permits to have fires, so i think they are anticipating another very dry and busy fire season.
Not sure if this will impact camp owners out of town or not.
Water temps were quite cold, we were seeing between 38-39deg.

Thought since we have been posting views looking out past our gazebo towards the dock i would show one looking towards the camp.

Here is one looking towards Alwaki.

And one looking towards the Lindros camp at Corbeau.

It wouldn't be right not to show a sunrise.

We are back up next weekend to hopefully get our barge in the water and perhaps split some firewood.

Cheers everyone, looking forward to a great year!

We opened our camp this weekend.
We just started to see some bigs appear at the end of our weekend.
No bites but as the water warms i am sure they will be out very soon.

I'll second the leech. Too bad they are so expensive.

Have a good and dry trip  in.

Great job on pics, its interesting to see the progress of the ice, snow and water.

We were up at the cabin this weekend as well. The "storm" they kept calling for never really amounted to much. We had on and off rain (but not overly heavy) Saturday and Sunday was actually quite pleasant with some sun peeking through the clouds now and then. Over-all a decent weekend....

You can look up the information you're after on line at https://www.quebec.ca/en/tourism-and-recreation/sporting-and-outdoor-activities/sport-fishing

According to my interpretation of Quebec's Sport Fishing Regulations, walleye season for Lake Témiscaming (Rivière des Outaouais) opens 17 May, 2024. You can verify this by telephoning the Quebec authorities.

So you can fish Walleye on Friday?
