I read in several places Americans will need to indicate a quarantine location IF you get randomly selected to take a test at the border (going in) AND you fail that test (show positive). I suppose we would list the outfitter (in our case, Alwaki Lodge), but is "any" address on the Canada side of the border sufficient? We have an office in Mississauga...I'm confident Rhybak or Ozzy would put me up for a few days...or I could just get a hotel in [anytown Ontario].
If any of the outfitters or Americans that have 'completed' the process of going up have any insights, they are much appreciated.
Two weeks from Friday me, Mattie, and Marco will begin our long-awaited trek north. Can't wait!!!
Thanks.
Just try to give me some notice so I can drive the 6 minutes and stock the house with la bleue. No use having your trip completely shot. You can also just grab a cooler and get in the boat at the house and away u go. Quarantine at it's best. lol
Agreed Ozzy...and much appreciated. ;D
If you can randomly list a friend's address, I imagine the outfitter's address will do.
We used the GPS coordinates of the cabin as the street adress, Temiscaming as the city, and Kipawa River as the location. We also listed our Outfitters Cell and Sat phones as contact numbers.
We crossed the border today very easily with no hangups at all. Just make sure you have the required documents, and declare any items required.
Honestly it was one of the easiest crossing we have had in along time.
Good Luck,
Crossed today at Queenston/Lewiston no lines but was one of the unlucky random people to be tested. Took about 15 minutes because my wife and I already were enrolled in the switchhealth app from previously crossing the border and going throughthe testing process. Not sure if everyone crossing there was selected for testing but sure looked that way.

I am 2.5 weeks away from departing to Alwaki and have not boned up on all of the requirements yet. WIth Todd’s question and
@Netman responce , can we use our outfitters location as our quarantine location?
Hodgey,
that is our plan and like Netman will use latitude and longitude of camp since no street address. An outfitter also told his clients that the border services told him that was ok. I am on his email list from inquiry last year for possible option if the border opened. The way I understand it, it only comes into play if chosen for random test. If they question us on it, we will go to motel or home. T bone is going a week ahead of you so he may share additional intel. I have been watching border wait times and seems that Peace bridge is one of the longest but usually only minutes delay.Good luck to all.

I was told by outfitter to use their info, address, email, phone etc., for quarantine purposes and a way to get in contact if necessary.
Had 2 Americans up to Camp yesterday. I had sent them confirmation emails, with dates, arrival & departure, & stipulated due to Covid Restrictions if they had to quarantine then I would make a cabin available for 14 days. Also gave address & cell contact info. They had no problems as both were vaccinated twice & had a negative test in the last 72 hours. Must down load the App !!!!!! Now the only problem is they can't keep the fish off the hook.

@Smith Bay Outfitters sounds like my kinda problem ;D
Thanks for the additional information on quarantine plan.
I am supposed to cross the border on Thursday, so I scheduled my tests for yesterday to stay within the 72 hours window, yet enough time to hopefully get my results back. After reading about testing issues & delays, I opted to schedule two tests yesterday. The first at a lab, claiming 24hr turn around and the other at a CVS store claiming 24-48 hr turn around.
The first test was a nightmare experience, with the person drawing blood after I asked her twice, that I thought it was a nasal swab test? 20 minutes after leaving the site I get a Vmail that they preformed the wrong test and I needed to come back hours later, since they didn't have the right test kit. What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The second test at the CVS was smooth and 1000 times better experience. Now the waiting begins to see if one of the tests comes back in time........ UGH :-\
Good Luck Hodgey - Fingers crossed for you & your group!!
hope it works out for you Hodgey... we are crossing Sunday and also have both tests scheduled for thursday. If they would just give another day or two for crossing after the test it would eliminate alot of the turmoil but it has probably reduced the day trips to the casinos , etc. I have heard that the fish are VERY active..
Thanks
@fishtildark &
@TBIRD , I appreciate the well wishes, same goes to all of you.
Good news, our test results have come back from one test for me and both tests for my wife. We hopefully will be good to go!
As a precautionary tip to all Americans planning to cross the border, I would highly recommend two tests, from two different testing facilities. My wife and I both used the same two testing facilities. Last night I received my results from a lab I used and my wife had neither of her results. This morning my wife got her results from both the Lab and CVS??? We are 14 hours from departure and I haven't received my CVS results? What if I had only used CVS? I think i would be extremely stressed and agitated waiting for the results, not a good way to start vacation.
Hodgey - that's weird with CVS. Wife and I crossed the border twice and each time we had our results from CVS anywhere from less than 24 hours to maybe 30 hours max. I have two friends coming up Friday morning to meet me for our trip into Sasseginaga and the got their results in less than 24 hours. Good luck
Do we need printed copies of test results, or will they view them on a phone/iPad? I am testing twice Wednesday, driving up Friday from the south to Ohio then crossing early Saturday morning, have no idea where I’ll be when I receive my results.
Yes...have to be printed as you hand them to the Customs agent with your Passport....
Thank you.
Hodgey, I didn't my CVS results in time either. Good advice on getting 2 tests.
My daughter and two of her friends came up last Monday and had results on their phone - not printed copies.
I had both printed copies and digital on my phone. When asked for our proof of negative test, we presented the printed copies as well as are proof of vaccination.
@Oarin , glad you made it through!
