Getting started a little late this year... but whats your guess??
Mine is April 21 (...Blackjack!).
Any offers for prizes this year?
And is there anyone around the lake who can make the official call for us?
Thx
Greg
I'm looking at April 20.
April 30th
May 1st.
April 24
May 2
April 26th
As in the past Kipawa Lodge will donate a hat and T -shirt to the ice out contest. I plan on going to camp as soon as the ice leaves, however my Lund won't be out of storage till April 25th.
April 22 for me.
Thanks for your generosity
@wayne ! I'll be in touch.
Greg
April 18
April 25 just for kicks
We still need a connection for someone to actually call the "ice out date" - anybody have any ideas? Is Corenia still around the area?
Greg
April 27th. I want to be into the cottage the 29th. Thanks for the donation wayne.
Hi Greg, I will message Corina and ask if she will let me know when the ice leaves the lake if it's before April 25th. Other wise I will post the day I make it to the lodge. Hope this is OK?
I am thinking April 29 for me
Thanks Wayne for the generosity! April 19th
Sounds good Wayne, let us know what Corina says! Appreciate your efforts.
Greg
May 5th.
4/23
april 28th
May 4th - May the forth be with you lol
Sorry I have to double up on a date because my picks have all been taken. May 2nd for the lake but really hoping to get to camp by boat on April 28th. Here's to a good season.
@wayne - any news from Corina if she can call the ice out date?
O.K. I'm Back
I'll go with may 7
Didnt see that Mattie already had the 23rd
Hard to find a clear date
Morning Nancy, Yes Corina will message when ice is out. She told me that on Sunday there was 26 inches in front her place in Kipawa, however the water is starting to come up and there air several large air holes showing up in the big part of the lake. Her prediction is around the end of the month. Let's hope!!
Excellent - thanks Wayne.

We were at camp this weekend past, we got snow two nights in a row........
I will take May 3rd - my first choice is April 25th but that has been taken already.
Ice has broken up along the shores and there is some open water - fingers crossed we can get to camp in the next couple of weeks !
going to the camp to fish trout on May 4th.... ice, no ice, rain or shine. I keep checking the sat images. The ice is definitely getting darker.
@penner shared this photo of the Government dock this Saturday.

Thanks for the photo update. Was hoping to see the ice darker in colour but nice to see the water levels coming back up.
Must be getting close. All the small lakes on hwy 63 cleared sunday so I suspect kipawa and surrounding lakes should open this week. Any local updates would be appreciated.
I'm at camp at Red Pine. The lake is totally clear of ice in front and almost so on the rest of Maclauglin lake.
Amazing. Thanks for the update.
@penner ,
@wayne , etc, how is the ice looking? Must be getting close?
Yes it's getting close, Saw pictures on Face book this morning. Still a large black section right across the lake from the docks in Kipawa. The forecast shows warmer weather Friday and Saturday. It's opened up a lot but I think Saturday?
Thanks
@wayne , cheers to a great season ahead.
Thanks, It's certainly going to be better than the last two ;D
All open here at Red Pine. Putting my boat in today. Hope I remember to put in the plug... ::) :-X ;D
Hello everyone, ice just left Baie McAdam yesterday, woke up to a beautiful view this morning as the sun shone across the water that was like glass… 8) Cheers, DK
Same. Both MacLauglin lakes are clear. took a trip to MacKenzies camp. No more ice here.
The main lake in Kipawa still has ice. Most of it should be gone by today or tomorrow!
Any idea how ice looks today
With the warm weather I decide to go to the lodge today. Arrived in Kipawa at 10 am, Well the main lake from the docks was ice covered and not looking good. Drove to Mungo Bay, launched the Lund and arrived at the lodge at noon. No ice at this end. All is good. The ice should be all gone by tomorrow. Wind rain and warm temps over night will finish it. I would say May 2nd as the date of ice out!

Thanks for the report Wayne, glad you got in ok even if you did have to take a different route!
Took the boat straight across from camp behind Bronson Island las night at 8:00pm to town. Was still ice to the north that earlier in the day I had to go around to the south. Should be gone today.
Satellite shot from yesterday
you can still see ice

Yeah...being 603 miles away, it's hard to tell...but I'm pretty sure the "ice out" date for 2022 will be 5/5 (tomorrow). It may seem like the ice is "off" today, but I'm sure you could find a cube or two floating around that big lake. So....yeah...probably should just call it 5/5.
I wonder who has that date. ::)
I have May 4th... :)
Big floe of ice again blew into bay out from Kipawa today
Looks very thin , 1/4 of the bay
Probably break through it with a boat

Yesterdays shot it looks like a lot of ice still in the mid and northern part of the lake
My May 7 is looking good
Probably break through it with a boat

Done that before
Nobody called the official ice out?????
I just logged on to check the same thing
@RHYBAK ???
Well...if Ozzy was there on Sunday and saw "a little" on his way out of camp on 5/8, but none on his way into camp, I'd guess the date would be Monday, 5/9.
Was wondering the same thing also... Corina was going to let Wayne know, but we haven't seen anything yet. Looks like, by eye witness Ozzy, it was around the 8 or 9th... which I think makes Rhybak the winner, but will scroll backwards and see who had what date.
Greg
Okay we have a winner of the ice out contest! The ice left the main lake in Kipawa on May 2nd and I just confirmed with Reggie that the ice left the North end on May 4th, so who ever picked May 4th is the winner. Send your mailing address in to info@kipawalodge.com and I will mail the hat and T - shirt. Thanks to all who participated. Sorry for the delay, but been a little busy with opening things up. Tight lines everyone! Enjoy your time on the lake. ;D
