Yesterday brought the sudden passing of my fishing partner and best friend, Bob Gersna, known to all on the fishing forums as Captain Crappie. Way back in the late 1960s his wife playfully nicknamed us "Captain Crappie" and "Commander Bluegill" and the two of us embarked on more crazy adventures and had more fun than two people should be allowed to have. Fishing and fun in the outdoors included all of our children, grandchildren and for Bob, his great grandchildren. We had 17 years of adventures on Kipawa together and he was planning a trip up this year with his son-in-law and grandson. We met some wonderful people on Kipawa and it will always have a special place in my heart. I have pictures and memories but now there will always be an empty seat on my boat. Tight lines always, my friend!!
Yes, That is very sad news indeed.
Very many fine memories of our times together at 3Seasonscamp.
His trip descriptions were best of all. I always looked forward to reading his humorous trip reports.
One year Bob made tee shirts for the Camp group and giving us all a rank. It was a very touching yet funny gesture.
We will miss you Captain.
Sorry, that's sad news. His reports were the best.
So very sorry to hear this news! :( This is why I make it a point to get up there every year. We never know which trip may be our last. My condolences
@Cmdr. Bluegill...
Sorry to hear this news Commander...condolences to you and Bob's family. His trip reports were epic...almost as good as his 55-gallon tackle box with 1,500 lures in it! I loved teasing him about that, and he was a good sport and always held his ground.
:(

My sympathy to you and his family. You and he were 2 of the few people on the board who I was fortunate enough to meet in person. We met in the Temrose a few years ago. While you will never fill the empty seat I hope you can find a fishing companion who doesnt mind being "second string". Take care
Sorry to hear of the loss of yet another Kipawa lover.
Our thoughts are with you and all who knew him.
Tonight i raise a glass and toast to Bob aka Captain Crappie...
Cheers to Bob
Very sad news!
I had the pleasure of enjoying a couple of trips to 3Seasonscamp on Lake Kipawa with Captain Crappie and Cmdr. Bluegill. Lots of fond memories.
Rest in peace Bob.
RIP Captain Crappie
Commander Bluegill remember the good times

Sad sad news indeed, so sorry for your loss. I think it's safe to say he was a fixture on this board and will be missed dearly by all.
Sorry for your loss. I am sure his memory will always be with you.
