Title: Stop and Smell the Roses
Post by: CaptainCrappie on July 27, 2014, 12:17:07 AM
A while back, I remember reading a few words that stuck to my brain like gum on a shoe. It went something like this....

A elderly man died and was met at the gates of Heaven by an angel who welcomed him with a recap of the man’s life. Said the Angel, “you were a good son, husband and father, you worked long hours to provide what you perceived to be your family’s needs, and both you and they prospered.”

In the blink of an eye, beautiful scenes of majestic mountains appeared. There were lakes and streams of sparkling clear water, vast meadows of wild flowers, forests in which every shade of green radiated from their midst. There were birds so colorful that it seemed like they were from some artist’s vivid imagination. There were sun rises and sun sets so beautiful that it almost took the man’s breath away, and there were people of different colors and cultures, living their lives the best they could. Maybe now the man thought, "I’ll have the time to understand their ways and better appreciate who they are."

The man said to the angel, “ Heaven is so magnificent! It is so obvious that this is God’s creation! I had no idea that Heaven would be so incredibly wonderful!”

Said the angel to the man, “No, this is not Heaven. I just wanted to show you what you missed and could have enjoyed while you were back on earth.”

Those of us that already know and appreciate Kipawa’s beauty are way ahead of game. That angel will have to pick a different subject. Do I hear an AMEN?

Really looking good!! Call me envious. Do you plan on completing the roof during your 10 days at camp? And lastly, when do the windows and doors go in?

Hi Jay that pic was taken on sat the 19th. The roof has since been installed, a silver steel panels. I am doing little of the work myself. I have a team of three carpenters doing all the work. I have neither the skill nor the time to complete such a project. When I go up on thursday I expect the front porch(screened in) to be done, and the plumbing and wiring started. Windows and doors installed next week as they get delivered. Then insulation and vapour barrier then siding. At which point my budget (70k) will be blown. Septic is included in budget. That will leave me to install all flooring and wall coverings. All next year. I will be posting a thread with pics outlining my project. " the Hodge Podge Lodge"
