Hello everyone!
So sorry for the delay in setting up the Sunnyside cam pics.
I had the camera set to take videos hoping o catch some wildlife however it wouldn't work well with posting to this forum.
The first batch will be fairly recent pictures.
As of today Dec 19th the lake is still open.spypoint (6).jpgspypoint (5).jpgspypoint (4).jpgspypoint (3).jpgspypoint (2).jpgspypoint (1).jpg
The temps the camera are showing will at times be incorrect as the sun hits directly on the camera.
Fingers crossed it runs all winter.
I have had a couple days that the camera was obstructed by ice etc.
Cheers to you all...enjoy, Stu
Great pics, Stu. It's cool to keep track like that. I'm hoping to make my annual trip to camp for New Years again this year. (4 yrs running now) I'll post pics. :)

Sat Dec 21st
Sun on the water, snow on the ground. Beginning to look a lot like Christmas...at least in Kipawa.
I would say a 50% chance of snow on the ground at my home in Southern Ontario.
Cheers

Lake should be iced over after last night
Merry Christmas
Extreme cold warning for the area by environment Canada.

From the top of the post, i have been clicking on the user action box and selecting reply.
Then clicking on the box to ad the photo.
Not sure what the best size is.
I have been using the 1024 x 768

Much rather be up there than at home in the city.

Hi Stu,
Enjoy your photos very much. How do you get service through SpyPoint that far away from town?
Quote from: limacharley on January 06, 2025, 12:35:13 PMHi Stu,

Not really sure.
In the summer we have a cell signal booster running.
Last season i ran a small solar panel to power the booster.
This season so far there is enough of a signal to keep the cam running on its own.
I only have a small panel powering the camera.
The camera runs on multiple metworks...perhaps it is running on bell and rogers, depending on whatever it can find.
Having been on Hunter's lake, I'm somewhat familiar with the sparse cell tower signal. I found that being on the north side of the lake provided a clear "view" of a tower in the south so since you're on the north side of Audoin, must be nothing obstructing the airwaves.
A fiend of mine on Hunter was too close to the large hill and could get no signal.
The reason I was asking was because friends of mine moose hunt behind Hagar and don't want to invest in a game cam for fearing they won't work. I guess it depends on an unobstructed view of a tower and not great cell service.??
Cheers,
I think if he can get a bar or two on his mobile signal level he should be good. For a game cam.
I think it just takes longer and more battery to send a transmission.
We definately get days on ours where we dont get pics.
Sometimes a week goes by and you wonder if the camera is still functioning..haha.
On that note here is todays pic from sunnyside.

Thanks Stu.
Have a good winter.
Spypoint_20250108_110621.jpg
With little snow and those temps it will
be making ice
you would think, but too windy.
The Lake is still wide open with whitecaps at Kipawa, probably all bigger open areas of the lake have no ice yet.
Be wary this year, a back bay may have a foot, and open areas an inch
:o

Mystery has been solved.
It was a friend of ours from town, stopping by to take some pics for us.
He was checking out roofs for snowload.
Any idea how thick the ice has gotten with the cold up there?
Quote from: puckster_guy on February 08, 2025, 10:07:07 AMAny idea how thick the ice has gotten with the cold up there?
My friend says 10-12 inches on the main lake.
Smaller bays etc are thicker as they froze much earlier

Wish we didn't have to wait for the ice to vacate.
Fingers crossed we are just a few weeks behind you.
Warmer temps this week, should change things a bit.

How much snow do you think?

Not sure how much snow is piled up.
The small tree on the right by the gazebo is a dwarf pine...its maybe 3ft tall.
Things should a lot different by the end os this week for sure.
Another visitor.
Looks like it left some deep tracks.
Added a 5am, and 9am pic
Spypoint_20250312_042316.jpg
Spypoint_20250312_042320.jpg
My guess is coyote, but hard to tell. Could be a young wolf.
Those tracks look a lot bigger than what a fox would leave.
Why did the camera not catch it.
He's on there in the 5AM photo...looks too little to be a wolf...
