HI Everyone.....My name is Steve and I just joined this group. 4 of us have decided to finally book a cabin on Kipawa Lake for 1 week mid June...We will be staying close to Dead Bear Bay and was wondering if anyone has some suggestions/tips for fishing the lake.....I have looked at some maps and the size of the lake is very intimidating....we will be targeting walleye and Lakers.
Thanks!

We used to fish Dead Bear bay for Lakers often enough, Two of the boats from one cabin would troll it every morning before the days heated up. Corbeau is always a good run too from around the corner of the shortcut through the narrows and around the island. The big bay on the East side of Corbeau can produce quite well too, there's a big hump near the top end of it that's good to be part of the circular run. Biggest one out of my boat came from around the corner between Corbeau and Alwaki.
You won't have to go far for Walleye either any evening and well into dark, whether it's on the inside of those islands coming out the southern corner of Dead Bear or down by Sandbank or sitting on top of that massive shoal that tops out at 15ft out in the middle of the big water between Corbeau and Alwaki. You'll often see boats fishing beside the small island near that shoal too.
I recognize your name from Fish-Hawk, you've been there since 2007 with over 3000 posts. If you're anywhere near Almonte area you should swing by sometime and I can really go over the maps with you, send me a pm there and we can make some arrangements. You could even bring the boys if you want.
Cheers
Welcome. Loads of knowledge on this board and many years of experience from end to end. You're in the best part of the lake, IMO. I've fished that area for over 20 years now. Have tried others across the system, but this is the best location on the lake. You won't be disappointed. Perfect time of year for plentiful walleye on almost any common structure. Wind and current make a huge difference in which will have fish and which will not as it goes for walleye. I don't fish lakers, but I fish with a laker fisherman who always puts the boat on fish. I giggle recalling some of the silly-stupid sessions we've had with fish after fish after fish...for hours. Can't wait to get back up in late-May.
