Title: Expected Ice out
Post by: devio on April 02, 2015, 11:10:17 AM
Hello All,

I am planning my first trip to Lake Kipawa for the May long weekend. With this cold weather, do you guys think the ice will be out by then? I heard last year it was around May 7th for ice out.

Also, is the fishing going to be slow if the ice out is a week before we arrive?

Thank you

My prediction is May 2. Ice conditions this year are not the  same as last year. Layers of slush and not much blue ice. The guy's are having trouble cutting ice for the ice houses this year because of the conditions. Last year the ice was gone May 9th. We boated from Kipawa May 10 2014. Walleye opens May 15th so we have to be at the lodge at least 10 days prior to get ready for the opener. Fishing will be awesome as always. Think spring everyone! :)

Sorry for the late response, I ended up going out of town for the weekend and did not spend much time on a computer.

Thank you for the responses, it really makes me feel better about the trip. I was thinking we would have to go somewhere else.

I think we will be staying on the south side of the lake
