Hi all. Just got back home from TBL yesterday night to find my water heater leaked while we were away. Mt basement and office are a loss. Did a quick computer hook up to check emails, etc. so I thought I'd let you know my report will be a while off.
As usual, send me a pm if you want a copy of the trip dvd. We had a great trip. House is a shambles, this sucks!
Sorry Rich, I hope you can get it back soon. Gary.
That is horrible Rich, I am sorry to hear that happened. I wish I lived closer to give you a hand with things.
Do you think it ran most of the time you were gone? That sort of a thing is always a fear of mine when we leave. I used to turn the water off when we left but now that we have chickens people come and water them for us so we can't turn it off any more. I have heard stories of people coming home to water coming out their front door! Sucks bud, I hope insurance will cover it for you. Take your time on the DVD's this year I am sure everyone will understand
Best wishes
Brad
So sorry to hear about your trouble with water Rich. Luckily, a year from now, you'll hardly think of it.
Jay
That is horrible, hope everything goes well with the insurance also hope you didn't lose anything that isn't replaceable.
Jeff
Wow what a bummer indeed, hope you're getting everything sorted out.
Good luck!
Bummer for sure, shishh.
If I can offer some advice for the future to anybody if you don't want to shut the main. It is a good idea to put a T in your main line with a shut off valve going to your hot water tank, that way you can isolate the water tank and still have cold water accessible to water the lawn, or anywhere else in the house, etc. And of course, shut the water tank breaker as mentioned.
Mind you that won't prevent or guarantee that you won't have any flooding at all but it does decrease your odds.......
