Speaking on behalf of Chalet Diane:  I was at Chalet Diane the last week of the bow hunt.  The group missed one.  There was a lot of activity and a lot of signs.  We were partridge hunting and saw a large bull and cow on MacAdams Bay road.  We advised the bow hunters but they had no luck.  The rifle hunt is now in the second week.  Chalet Diane is fully booked for both weeks.  I will be calling up there later today to see how it is going.  I can add more at that time

Hi, Grant from Smith Bay Outfitters here. We had 6 hunters in the first week for rifle. 3 Cows down by Monday morning. Unbelievable! Then the work started getting them out of the bush & over to the landing by boat. Looking forward to this week also. Later

Last week was slower.  It always seems to be.  There was a big rain and wind storm on the Saturday night of the final weekend.  Sunday morning we decided to go partridge hunting for a couple of hours. Got our limit fairly quickly.  There were quite a few moose tracks on the roads but we didn't see or shoot any.  I have been advised the moose hunt will change for Ontario and Quebec next year.  Guess we will hear more next year.

I heard a slight rumor that in Quebec next year,non-residents will have to go through an outfitter.

Yes, that's what I have been told also.  I also heard that Ontario is changing the time they moose hunt to the same time as deer hunting.  I don't hunt these animals myself so I don't know for sure on the Ontario info

Wow
That will throw a loop into hunters priorities.

That would mean a lot more hunters in the bush at the same time ! Good or bad ???

Or people being forced to choose between deer or moose.

This is all I could find so far doing a quick search on Google:

http://news.ontario.ca/mnr/en/2015/04/ontario-changing-moose-hunting-season.html

My neighbour across the road is a wild life biologist, next time I run into him I'll pick his brain and see if he has any information.
Picked up the girls a couple of Red Ryder bb guns yesterday, they're excited to set up a target and get practicing:)

Talked to my neighbor biologist buddy, he doesn't have much more info than the link already posted.
I guess the MNR is having a hard time understanding the reasons behind the low moose count but it's an issue their monitoring closely in Ontario and northern Michigan.
(could possibly be in Quebec to, I don't know as we didn't discuss).
That's all I have, sorry gang, wish it was more useful!

How about they smarten up and stop giving out calf tag to everybody.
How do they expect an adult moose population if everybody in the bush is looking for a calf.

That is my opinion
