Title: Hockey Talk, Lord Stanley Discussion
Post by: Dog on February 27, 2016, 06:41:53 PM
Ok ladies and gents.... how's everyone feeling about their hometown team and also their prediction who will win.

I think the Pens finally have the correct coach, but this year likely isn't they're year. They'll get in and likely make it to the second round but then get knocked out...

I like the Dallas Stars or Florida Panthers to win the cup.

Well...seeing as the Leafs are fighting for a spot in the cellar and the Pens are perpetual bridesmaids. Even after we gave you Kessel ;) :)  I'll take the Hawks to win it all. They're just too deep in talent

I'm with Puckster on this one. The Hawks will be tough to beat.

All I know is Montreal (our family team) is just terrible this year. Not surprising, we rested on Price for way too long.
Haven't even looked at the standings since our 4000000000 game run of losses. :(

Hey Fort welcome to the world of the leafs fan. Were for the millionth rebuild. Getting used to it. I sawnthe loafs win their last cup when I was ten. Never did I think I'd never see another one.....now back to our regularly scheduled rant.

Not the home team for me as Im from Hamilton (near the Loafs home barn) but I have always been a Blackhawks fan (as Reggie knows full well) . Hoping for the Hawks but Washington looking good as well

I'll give you guys credit for hanging on!
In the end, it's all good....

Chicago this year, great depth and last minute trades.

2021 Toronto if they draft well and acquire a good vetern support crew. Lots of picks in next few years.

The Sabres will never win a cup with Byslma. (He coaches like a 4th liner so talent gets suffocated in his system)

Complete luck the bridesmaids got some action after the reception in 2009. Kessel is what we thought he was... fast thru the neutral zone, a wicked wrister, and avoids contact like he'll contract Zika if touching another person on the ice... oh well, it's all good. I think if Letang can manage not to get his noodle scrambled (again) and plays decent, we could make a deep run. Time will tell...

Are any teams north of the border gonna make the playoffs this year?

I'll have to say that I hope for the Dallas Stars.
They are of course, my home team.

@getthenet I agree the Caps look strong right now but come playoffs for some reason the get as soft as puppy do0do0 on a hot summer sidewalk... and if the Pens have taught me anything the past 6 years, finishing first in the regular season and looking dominant means absolutely nothing.

@SgtCrabby I like the stars... if the Pens don't win I hope the Stars too but something makes me think that Jagr and the Panthers are gonna make a run

whelp, the Pens are done... probably won't even make the playoffs now that Malkin's arm resembles an uncooked slab of bacon after the Columbus game... oh well. Go Stars!

I agree with Dog,capitals seem to choke when they get in playoffs... but they do look slightly different this year.  Coaching has made a big difference there.

The blackhawks are an obvious contender - strong, 4 lines of skilled depth and a goalie who is having a hot season.

Something magical in Florida is going on with Panthers (Luongo and Jager!) - they might upset/surprise some people.

Dallas - glad to see them having such a great year (I didn't like Spezza much when he was here in Ottawa, but there was to much pressure put on him, I'm glad he has landed in a spot where he can contribute and he seems to like the environment) but not sure they will stand-up to hawks or even the kings...

All I can say, as a Canadian, it is kinda sad that NONE of the Canadian teams are even in the race... that hurts.!.!.

Breaking news: Malkin is on the trading block!
(I joke.... ) but seriously, why not? He plays east west and the Penguins since Christmas are playing Sullivan's north south speed system (much like the blackhawks)... he simply doesn't seem to fit in here anymore... I hope they trade him this offseason and get some north south players in return. It won't hurt the team in the near or long term.... Marc Andre will be ok and if not M&M is the real deal. Let's not discuss Zatkoff... if it comes to him, we're in trouble, bigtime!

The Pens seem to be in playoff mode/form for the first time since 2009 so I wouldn't bet against them anymore.
The other usual suspects still look to be a challenge to overcome. It should be a real entertaining playoff run this year...

Hey Nate. The Pens arw playing great again
GL; n the playoffs. I just dusted off my Blue Jays cap, they look like they're picking up where they left off last season. Lets see if they can give the Loafs some pointers. Lol

Life long "Ontario" Pens fan.. grew up in the Mario/Jagr glory years and have stuck with them ever since. They look great lately... haven';t been this excited/ confident with them heading into playoffs for a good 3-4 seasons!

O.K.
We will have some fireworks in honor of the win.

If Ukraine beats Poland in the soccer match that week, there will be a lot more celebrating.

Ukrainian soccer?
All I can get are the Mexican, Central and South American Leagues.  None of the European leagues.
I had a buddy that was Ukranian.  Come to think about it, your avatar looks similar to him.
Please keep me posted on outcomes Rhybak.
