Anyone have any info on this lodge thinking about going there in June and what is the best lures for walleye in this area
Fished very close to there last June and had wonderful success; we primarily worked jigs and live bait, but also had some success throwing stick and crank baits. From what I understand, Wayne runs a great place and has a good return clientele each year. I surmise this as we looked at staying there a few times as they offer American Plan, but could never really line-up our cabin / date requirements with what was available...so you know he's booked pretty solid which is testament that is must be a good experience.
In my opinion, the area between Mungo Depot and Corbeau Island is the best fishing anywhere on the lake (the best we've ever experienced anyway)...and Kipawa Lodge is right in that stretch.
Good luck...
Thanks for the reply I will call and see what's available
Most of those shorelines around Kipawa Lodge have lots of walleye, you're in a good area.
Thanks what are the best lures to use ?
Jigs of almost any type, but experiment colors, weights, bodies, tails, etc. Go light under a slip-float, go heavy in deep water, go action when casting to shallow, go bulky when snappin', but go get some jigs. And when you run out of jigs, go to the nearest fishing buddy and ask him for some jigs. Ultra versatile...and [almost] all you need.
Jigs, split shots, floats( bobbers) and single hooks.
Lots of Leeches
