Title: boats
Post by: wayne on March 30, 2016, 07:51:47 PM
As our fishing season is getting closer and everyone is getting anxious to wet a line again after a long winter, I wanted to remind everyone who brings a boat to the area the importance of making sure your boat has been completely washed before  launching in any lakes in Ontario or Quebec. It is really important not to introduce any foreign species to the lakes we visit each year. Hope everyone has a great fishing season and enjoys there fishing vacation.

We use the camp boats but thanks for the reminder.  Invasive species become a problem everywhere!

The zebra mussels are in some of my local lakes here.  Not good for the lakes in the long term.   I was on one of the infested lakes a couple of days ago and stopped at a car wash on the way back and blasted it from decks to keel,  including in the water inlets, like on your lower unit. Don't forget to wash down the trailer too.
Information  and fine amounts are posted at our launches for reminders.

Thanks for a timely reminder Wayne

Thanks, Glad to see that everyone is on board with boat washing.  We need to preserve our lakes for our kids and grand kids so they can enjoy nature as we do. Tight Lines everyone!!

Great point! 10 minutes of prevention could stop a generation (of more) of regret.
