Title: countdown
Post by: fishtildark on May 08, 2014, 09:27:59 PM
Even after 25 years I get wound up ... 30 days til Bush country camp.. the Ice has had me worried this year but, here is my Feel good, positive thinking ...... another 10 days for the water to warm and get the walleyes spawning,, 10 more days to get it on, and another 10  to have a cigarette and get over it... then my buddy Jack and I show up with all kinds of appetizing morsels . this is of course all subject to change if there is still a couple feet of ice..
I remember the years when we came up on memorial day weekend and this year that would only be 2 weeks... brrrr. I really hope those buggers spawn under the ice and all the above is wrong. good luck to all. FTD

Norm is heading into the camp this weekend.  The plan was to haul the boats in today.  The warm weather and rain should take care of the ice soon enough.  My worry is that there will be no thermocline at all this year and the Lakers could be anywhere.

All will work out this year.  Looking forward to maybe some cooler weather for fishing.  Always nice to have a day of fishing followed by a nice fire in the cabin and a fry.  Maybe a beverage too... ;)

See you at the camp!

Kirk

Hi:
Our small group of 3 (plus Captain Zeke, who thinks he's a Pit Bull, but fits in a tackle box ???)will be on beautiful Kipawa next Friday for a 3-4 day long weekend  ;D. We've done the opening/closing wkends for years and often squeeze some time in between. Next wkends forecast isn't great, but can't be worse than last year  :(. We'll be @ Miwapanee's fantastic cabin on Dead Bear Bay. We've had success opening wkends @ Sunnyside, including 7lb and 5lb walleyes last year. We'll be in a green/cream Legend with downriggers. If you're in the area, drop by.

5 days and counting  :D
Tight Lines
Ray.

Hi Puckster:
Would be great to meet up with you. Have a general idea where you are. Spent a week @ Alwaki years back, but weather was so bad, couldn't get up that way  :(. We'll be parked @ Sunnyside in the evenings and trolling the general area during the day. Hope to meet up :)

Lets see what the weather's like. I"ve never done that trip to that part of the lake yet. Not too tough, just never done it, I have a good GPS map of Kipawa. Any Idea ho long it would take to get there from the red pine chutes?

OK
Sunnyside is about 5-10 minutes to Alwaki - after that you do the math  :)

Hi:
Heading To Kipawa tomorrow AM  :). If anyone is interested in where to get leeches, I checked with Trout Lake Bait and they have them. They're located on right side of Trout Lake Rd, just before leaving North Bay (beside The Green Store) 705-495-4227 - cell 705-493-1781 (Bob)
