On Friday night around 10: PM while en route to our fish-camp in Quebec we came face to with a large Moose standing motionless in the middle of the highway..... My wheel man fast Freddie swerved instantly to the shoulder of the highway to avoid hitting the beast. His fast action saved the creatures life but caused our vehicle to go out of control heading toward a rocky embankment but thankfully Freddie was able to regaing control and avert what would have be a serious if not fatal accident..
A rise in the number of moose-related traffic accidents in northern Ontario have officials warning drivers to be on the lookout for the large beasts this summer.
Local officials believe swarms of bugs are driving wildlife such as moose and bears from their forested habitats and onto roads and highways -- putting them in the direct path of motorists.
Thanks for the warning.
Sheesh! That's scary stuff. Dag. Thanks for the info...
We've had a few dings with moose... Drive rental truck up and ding a deer, rough week. Lol
Glad this story turned out with everyone safe
Very happy that all parties ,including the moose, came out unscathed
pikebuster, glad everything turned out ok ! Hope you weren't going "comando".
Happy all turned out OK. It's always a concern for me as I drive hwy 63 and Maniwaki road.
We have a rule of thumb not to travel after dark. We too have had too many close encounters
I'm very glad everyone come out OK.
Understand discovering large animals in the road, but we don't have moose. Worse we get is an escaped steer from a pasture.
