Title: Water Levels and Temperatures
Post by: NortonJoe on July 11, 2016, 08:22:50 AM
So we are heading back in the bush in about 18 days... ;D ...what are the water levels like? Has there been a lot of rain or has it been dry?  What about temperatures, both air and water?

I just got back last night.  There has been very little rain so everything is very dry.  It rained a fair bit on Saturday.  The surface temp in the Laniel end started the week around 18 degrees C on the main part of the lake.  By Friday it was 23 degrees C so my crew wanted to go to Sand/Picnic Island for a BBQ and a swim.

The water level is normal for this time of year

@Riverrat I kinda figured that would be the case...seems that the weather around Kipawa pretty much mirrors our weather in Cleveland (usually minus a few degrees temperature).  How was the bite? Did the rise in surface temp affect your catch?

I found that the fishing was better but the Lake Trout did slow down a bit.  Everything is about 2 weeks behind.  There are still blackflies.  The water is finally warming up so a few finally went in swimming.  The Walleye are finally on the move to their summer time haunts.  Our group caught more pike and bass this time.  All was good
