The ice got off in time, the camps are loaded bunk to bunk, and not a single "here's how it's going up here so far" report.
Dag...I need some info!!! All I saw was that water temps were 38-42 degrees. Sheesh...that's about the temp the walleyes like to spawn at...almost even on the cool side. Historically, at this time of year I can recall there being concern about how far the 'eyes have made it away from the sanctuary. If this is the case, they're probably a week or two from even leaving the sanctuaries.
Wow...

you are not alone by friend... I just logged on looking for the same thing. haha
Well, how do describe the fishing at Kipawa Lodge, this weekend? In a word unbelievable. Largest walleye,34 inches, 12 lbs. Tried to revive it but it didn't make. Its heading for the taxidermists. Average size of walleye 3-4 lbs with many 7-8 lbs. The fish that were kept had spawned out. Some smaller males are still milking. I haven't seen these kind of catches in 25 years, not sure what is going on. Largest laker caught off the dock estimated 10lbs, largest pike off the dock, 9lbs. Whole bunch of happy campers. Hope this report helps with your anxiety. Pics will be posted on our face book page. ;)
I saw two moons had a nice pickeral on their fb page as well that was caught this past weekend... can't wait to see your pics wayne.
Niiiice.
Me and Marco ALMOST put together an opening weekend together at Alwaki...but almost doesn't count! >:(
Glad to hear the guests are happy....and thanks for the update. WOW!!!!
Sounds like a good opener even if the ice out was a bit late. Great news.

I agree the positive reports are great news but in my bubble, I don't give a rats a$$ about how they're biting this week, I simply care about how they're biting when we're there. I do love to see the pictures of others success though because it gives me optimism that our trip will have similar catching success.
Hi guys just a quickie- report that is. I'm sitting in a parking lot in N-Bay while the boss goes shopping. I had little time to fish but talking to a niegbour who did go out with his group he did great many walleye some over 5lbs. And numbers of pike. They were not fishing the rapids but trolling! Their best day was 24 fish. They were never skunked. Igot two nice eyes and a pike in several hours trolling the main lake. I do believe the fish are biting good already. For me it turned into a working trip. Putting in the dock and boat and working feverishly with a chain saw tring to clear the shore of a few dead birches and lots of brush. Opening up a fine view of the lake. I met my contractor and left him a deposit and told him to "put it here" Sorry no pics this trip just work lol....a labour of love....I can't wait to retire there.
Got a report from a group that fished Grassy from Fri. till Monday. Claims they caught so many Eyes in the Kipawa River that 3 days were more than enough to give them their Walleye Fix! The whole group limited out in 2 hours on opening day.
Still hurting that son Scott and I can't make it up there on the 31st.
Regards, Ray N.
Hey Ray...any word from the group on Grassy whether Watson Lake Cabins are operating this year?

I am heading up on saturday to feed the mosquitos and blackflies, getting some work done and some fishing in. Anybody gonna be there next week?
