Hello Everyone,
I am planning a camping trip to Lake Kipawa this spring. We typically prefer camping (Not backcountry, but with some utilities).Google maps showed a campsite near Laniel, but I haven't been able to find much updated information on it. Does anyone know if it is still open? Or have any additional information on it.
Thank you!
Hi Devio, I think the people who own the gas station/store in Laniel own one across the street. It looked open last year.
Thanks Oarin,
Tried calling/email and haven't had a response yet. I am worried about showing up and the place not being open anymore.
Devio, try to PM 600 Miles North about the owners. He knows their names and maybe how to reach them.
I know the owners. They are closed in the off season. They were open last year. They don't seem to check their email too often lol. I will get back to you when I get more info.
Thank you Riverrat,
Would you happen to know if they have docking available?
Hello devio,
like Riverrat stated earlier the owners of the camp grounds close down for the winter, but were open last year, and yes they do have dock space.
@JacquesSilvy maybe they will read this. I have contacted them through e-mail, but never this early in the year. Best of luck
Brad
They are not there right now. It is their off season. They do have docking and camping.
Anyone know if the store in Laniel has opened / will open for the season?
eric
When we drove through town on June 17 and 24 the store was closed and had a for sale sign.
I just got back from Laniel. The store has been closed all summer but I noticed it open last weekend for a while. Locals tell me they are just selling off some stock and gas.
Bummer, will have to drive further now for beer replenishment during the week while staying at TBL. Nice people that owned the store and always enjoyed talking with them.
BH, there was a store in Fabre, about 15 minutes down the road towards Ville Marie. Not sure if it's still there. I agree, the owners of the Laniel store are very nice. 7 more days !!!!
Their is a new store and gas station in Fabre. They also have beer etc. Its located just outside of town on the ville mare side. There also is a poutine shop in town. The one in Temiscaming hasn't seemed to open this summer
Riverrat - does the store/gas station in Fabre sell fishing licenses?
No you need to get them in Temiscaming or Ville Marie

I've got to know. I'm aware of poutine and have had it before. What in the world is a 'poutine shop'? Like a hamburger joint, but they specialize in poutine?
Just curious....
Like a roadside chipwagon but it is a poutine wagon
;) ;D
Hey T-Bone...
Poutine (not my favourite)... but here is an example of a Poutine shop in my local neighbourhood... they service about 90 different variations of poutine. They have a strip mall walk in location about 5km from my house.

And their menu...

Have I tried a couple - yes. Would I go back? maybe someday if somebody was begging me.
....the final countdown.... 5 days (I leave early on Saturday).
Greg
Oh my...I haven't seen it all, but now I've seen more and am getting closer to seeing it all. Wow...a poutine shop.
Good luck Greg...leave a few in the lake for us... ;)
422.47 hours, or 17.6 days... :-\
T-Bone.
(http://i67.tinypic.com/2uffsao.jpg) T_Bone, here's the Tem Rose's poutine. It's called the Island Burger. That's a hamburg with a slice of cheese on top. I'll be having one on Friday!!
No exactly my favorite but others in my group love it. You can get fries, burgers, chicken etc
It comes with a side of angioplasty. :o :o :o
You're right!. Once a year is my limit.
Greg, looked at that poutine site. Some of those menu items look "interesting" and some I doubt I would want to try.
LC; I love the angioplasty comment.
Currently on my way home from my week long trip. The store in Laniel was open the last few days and they were selling fishing licenses and gas. Didn't have much other merchandise in the store. A case or 2 of beer and other miscellaneous food items, a wall of fishing lures and some tools. I hope to post my first full report in the trip reports section in the coming days.
I'm told as of now by family up on kipawa that the store is open and selling fishing liscense's. Have some beer and ice and are very limited in all other
Brad
I was at the store yesterday. They have licenses, gas, beer etc. Some limited groceries and Ice Cream yum
Thanks riverrat! We are heading up tonight! Cheers!
