So what's the story on this? It gets thrown out there a couple years ago that part of our beloved region is becoming a national park. The area that is (or was) to become the national park is right where we spend most of our time when up there....so...OK...there it is. I see general descriptions and light PR out there on the web, but I never hear 'boo' about it otherwise. What does it mean, other than stating this area of wilderness is now recognized as a national park, if anything?
Hi T Bone...From what I have read and heard there is no impact to fishing ..Alwaki area miles away from the park area anyways..If you hunt then you are affected...no hunting within the park boundary....no locals that I have talked to about it seemed concerned...bought a place close to the park boundary in the Fall so I asked a few questions about it before signing...
Thanks. Wasn't worried about impact on fishing just wondering what it means, if anything, to the week long tourist. Probably doesn't mean much...likely a governmental tax thing where by designating the land a national park they can ask for / collect more revenue from somewhere. Hope it's "good" for the region. Not sure it would increase tourism or benefit local businesses though.
