We have been trying to visit the lake for a few years, but it never seemed we could make it. Finally, everything came together and now we have 2 trips book in the same year WOOT!
My wife and I are fishing the May long weekend and we have a group of 5 fishing the Labor day week, we are staying at http://www.alwakilodge.com/ both trips, so excited!!!!
Were hoping to find some walleye, anybody know what the water temps are up to?

My son and I jumped in on Saturday to wash up. temp was 51.7 F......BRRRrrrr.
The Alwaki area is a great place to fish; I'm sure your hosts will provide you with a map
of locations. Hunter's narrows is my go to spot.

Good choice on Alwaki. We are experienced in that area of the lake and have no less than 25 or so "go to" spots for walleye...and always find a few more every year. If one is not 'on', go to the next...and so on until you are catching them one after the next. I'd guess this early in the year you'll want to be shallow...like silly shallow. No need to travel very far either...most within a mile or two of camp...the outer limits would be 3 miles.

We took a temp on Sunday after the rains and it got to 55F on top (10 feet down was in the 40's still) with the warm weather it may climb into the high 50's by the opener.
September temps should be in the 70's, both times you will want to fish down in the 20-30 feet range.
Fish wont be in shallow on the opener they will still be in the 15+ feet range.
The opener would probably have better luck down int he bottom end (east of the lake) where I find the further in the year the better the western arm gets.

Lots of spots near you Greg, if you can't find head to Hunters Narrows in the current. 3/8oz jig head usually needed to get down better.
