Dag...I'm getting itchy to get up there and start fishing for them pesky 'eyes. Not enough trip reports posted yet. So to stir it up a little, I'm interested in hearing about your (or your group's) typical day when up in the Kipawa area. We have two schedules, as outlined below:
Early-AM Fishing
5AM: Wake, coffee, hit lake by 5:30AM
9AM: Back at cabin, eat something/anything, get the Beer Train rollin' and have a few beers
Noon: Nap for an hour or two
1:30PM: Quick outing to see if any fish are biting
3PM: Back at cabin, more beers, relax
6PM: Eat dinner
7PM: Evening walleye bite
9:30PM: Back at cabin, couple beers, nighty-night
5AM: Repeat
NO Early-AM Fishing
8-9AM: Wake, coffee, eat, shuffle around and BS for a couple hours
10AM: Talk about heading out fishing
11AM: Pack cooler of beers, go out fishing for a few hours
2PM: Back to cabin, beers, more beers, more beers, relax
5PM: Start thinking about dinner
7PM: Eat dinner with beers
7PM: Pack cooler for evening walleye bite
9:30PM: Back at cabin, beers, more beers, more beers, howl at moon, laugh until jaw hurts
1AM: Hit the rack
8-9AM: Repeat
The latter schedule is employed most days, most years...as embarrassing as that is; but we enjoy ourselves and catch plenty of fish to satisfy that itch...make no mistake about that.
49...
Usually I getup for the morning fish and most days I have to fish by myself in the morning. Around 9 I will head in for breakfast and pack the cooler for the day. So after breakfast we will load up for a day of trolling lake trout and around noon we will pull the stove out on the front deck and one of my kids will cook us lunch while we continue to troll. Between 4-5 we make our way back to camp for supper and then out for an evening walleye fish. The routine varies a little depending if I have a few beer in the evening and the morning fishing doesn't sound like fun. Everybody have a safe and fun trip this season.
T-Bone
I have to admit that I cannot change anything.
Your schedule is pretty well the same as ours.
In my case, there is less beer consumed and more water.
I might throw in a ceasar or two in between.
The morning , afternoon and evening shifts are typical for us for the week.
We seem to catch bigger fish in the afternoon most days.
7days
Oh,
@RHYBAK , 7 days to go. Trade ya? ;)

Nancy
Are you kidding me.
Have you not seen my new ride that needs to be christened with walleye slime?
Still 7
Hey
@RHYBAK, can't blame a girl for trying. Yes I did see your new ride, SWEET!!
T-Bone, our schedule is pretty much the same except there is a lot more beer consumed now that my son is older and my brother-in-law joins us on the trip. Correlation between the amount of beer consumed and fish caught is inverse.
Can't wait for my trip on 7/22! (http://i63.tinypic.com/11jomzd.jpg)
T-Bone, Your schedule is perfect! Don't change a thing. Just keep the beer flowing. BH, Where will you be staying the week of 7/22? My crew will be at Smith Bay
Have a great trip BH. We'll be leaving Taggarts, cabin 4, the day you get there. Go Zips!! T-Bone we're mainly the on the water by the crack of 9:00 or 10:00 group.
@T-Bone great schedule, very organized, it's obvious you and your gang are pros and know what you're doing.
Only change/addition I'd make to your schedule is to throw a few whiskeys into the mix..... ;D
We'll be at TBL cabin # 3 the 22nd - 29th.
@RHYBAK What's the dates and where ya staying?
I've been working everyday but should be all caught up by the 16th, may sneak a quick trip to fish camp.
Sounds like a perfect days agenda to me. About what we do.
Looks same except Baileys and coffee added in and renovating 10am to 4pm. Sneak onto lake odd time if lots of hands on deck helping out.
this is from a cottage owner's perspective ;-)
600 h-----wake and coffee with coureur de bois (its a Quebec liqueur made with maple syrup)
700 h-----breakfast
800 h-----start working on a cottage project- at the moment starting my sauna build
1130 h----beer break
1200 h----lunch
1300 h----continue with the project with beer breaks
1500 h----nap
1645 h----snack
1700 h----swim
1730 h----fish; I find the walleye bite is best between 1730 and 2000
2000 h----clean fish
2030 h----start dinner
2130 h----the days dishes are done
2200 h----campfire, beers, scotch and bull crap
2400 h----bed time
repeat !
This is an old thread but worthy of reviving now that I have 5 trips under my belt and being 45 days away from trip number 6. T-bones schedule was a pretty darn good one and ours isn’t far off from that. I’ve made subtle adjustments that reflect our typical day. Can’t wait to put into action again!

Most of the week seems to lean towards plan B with a mix of plan A. Did I mention....Can’t wait!
I know this is a year old, but I see someone brought it back to life.
For us a typical day is around 10-12 hours on the boat fishing. Not all at once though. We usually wake up around 7am and get the coffee going. (Love percolator coffee). Then we like to head out for Lake Trout. We would wake up earlier to target Walleyes, but we are normally out fishing until
10-10:30pm, so that early wake up is too difficult for us. Normally dont go to bed until around 1am.
After the morning laker run, we head in for brunch around 10:30-11:00am ish. Eat a delicious breakfast/lunch and then go back out around 12-12:30 for Pike, Walleye and Bass. Sometimes we stay close to camp and other days we take a long boat ride? Depends on our mood? Usually spend about 3-4 hours out and then head back in to get dinner going around 4-4:30. We like to eat around 6-6:30 the latest, so we can get back out for the evening bite. After cleaning up, we head out around 6:30-7:00 and do some more Laker fishing on the way to our Walleye spot for the night. Like I said earlier, we are normally out until 10-10:30pm Walleye fishing. The only thing we may do different throughout the week is, we will sometimes go play with the bass instead of Lakers? Depends on our mood? I know a lot of people love the bass fishing, but they are just a bye catch for us. I dont think its as good as it was about 3-5 years ago either. I remember catching fish just about every cast when we would target them. Now it seems you have to work a lot harder for them compared to previous years. I guess we were spoiled for a few years lol. They are one heck of a fight and very fun to catch. No denying that.
What an awesome place to spend a week of your life every year. I love every second of our trip. Even the 15 hour car ride to get there. In a week from today we will have our sights set on Temiscaming. Cant wait for dinner at Tem rose Eh!

Peterbfly, thats a hike. I have family not far from you coming this year. I’m pretty fortunate to only have a 8 hour drive to make it to complete solitude.
