Hey guys, high time I made an update on the goings on @camp. It's coming along nicely. I now have a fully insulated except under the floors, camp. R30 in the cielings and R20 in the walls. The cielings and front main room are covered in a lap joint pine boards. I spent a week staining 2500 board feet of pine. I used a clear polyurethane to bring out the knots and grain. Looks mint. (http://i67.tinypic.com/210doqw.jpg)
My son is training as a carpenter in Barrie, in the spring I asked him to come up to camp with his boss to hang the pine and finish the insulation. I got them including a friend of my son's for three weeks. One week in June and two more in July/Aug. Well we got lots done. I started a new shift at work called the weekend warrior . I work 12 hours on Sat & Sun, plus 8 hours on Monday. Leaving Tuesday to Friday free. So I've been at camp almost every week plugging away getting stuff done and some fishing and R&R along the way. We got all the interior pine up in almost 2 weeks and got started on the exterior siding, also pine. Amid almost daily rain delays of around 2 hours daily we got 3/4 of the exterior cladding up. All the pine including flooring for the living area came from a mill in Trout Creek, just south of North Bay, Northern Stable Supply. Their products and pricing were amazing, good people to work with.
A lot of work needs doing and i'll get it done with some more help from my son. I enjoyed working with him. Gonna plug away slowly and spend more time fishing this fall. I can work inside when it rains. Looks terrific (and warm for cold nights and mornings)!
Looking good Puckster!
fantastic update - great looking spot - congrats! (soooo jealous ;D)
It's taking all my time and money but well worth it. I hope to finish it all by early spring. Forgot to mention James Mullen at Kipawa Solar/Miwapani installed a great system Almost as good as the power company. 4 panels and 6 gel batteries. I wanna double the batteries next summer. I made huge progress this year :D :D (http://i68.tinypic.com/o6wrhs.jpg)(http://i67.tinypic.com/6eghfo.jpg)

Very nice and I'm very envious!
Hodgey1,
I really think that your new boat needs a new cabin . If you got your wife to agree to the boat imagine how thrilled she will be with a new cabin to decorate.. just saying...

Nice palace!!
I saw it a year ago, and then it looked very good. I can't wait to see it when finished.
TY guys. That's most appreciated. Almost there. Gonna relax the rest of the year and pick it up next year again and finish. Much landscaping to do but that can wait till I retire. If your in the area drop by for a beer and a chin wag.

I think I might have to. They ask for a phone number and I don't wanna give it out randomly. I just changed mine recently because of getting too many telemarketers calling. Upto 5 a day. Since I got my new number about 6 weeks ago. I haven't gotten any yet. My last number I had for close to 10 yrs and was everywhere.

Ya, seems tinypics pulled the rug out from under all of us inre those pics posted thru them. They were all deleted when we stopped using them.
OK, finally back in business pic wise that is. I had a major spurt of activity a couple of years ago when I dumped about $20k in to the construction. I got 3/4 of the exterior covered. The front still isn't done, the materials for that is under the camp so that's my priority this summer. 80% of the interior got done at that time too. Last year and the one before that work was hit and miss as money came available. I got two bedroom floors covered with a nice looking laminate flooring with a third room waiting to get done. Last spring I bought a load of t&g pine and covered all the bedroom ceilings and the hallway. I had some left over so I covered one wall in the third bedroom with it. Man that looks good. I already covered the walls in the other two bedrooms with paneling looking at it after I hung that wall in pine. I'm removing it and replacing it with the t&g pine. Last time I was up I hung a couple of ceiling fans in the hallway and a bedroom and boy do they look good. One snag in the hallway is that the blades hit the wall so I decided to trim them down (not done yet.) and make them fit. Last spring I installed an on demand propane hot water heater. What a blessing to have running hot water for the first time. Now I can shower and do dishes without a big production.
Electrical is almost done a couple of outlets to install and I'm good to go. I would like to double the number of batteries from 6 to 12 but thats not a priority right now. I bought a full size used electric refrigerator as an experiment to see how my system would cope with it.I got it at a used appliance store and it's an older standard unit. I have been running a bar fridge just fine with no issues. I found with the full size one I was good for power as long as it was sunny most of the day. On cloudy or rainy days I found myself running the genny for several hours to top up the batteries. There's not enough juice to run it in the spring or fall when we don't get a lot of sun but my propane fridge can be used for those days. The electric saved my buying a lot of propane over the summer. Time to look for a more efficient fridge.
As for furnishings it's still minimalistic. No bedroom furniture or beds I'm sleeping on air mattresses on the floor, reminds me of my camping days lol. A couch in the living room, kitchen table and computer station rounds up furnishings for now. As you guys know I retired in the spring so my money supply dried up. I had hoped to work thru the winter as a contractor in the aviation biz where I worked but that work has dried up. It's a feast or famine biz so I'll get work where I can to finish up and hopefully replace my old boat. Here's a few pics to show how far I got...
