I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon for a few days of fishing Kipawa. I'm hoping Brian at Alwaki will have bait? I checked Kipawa bait, closed for the season and another post here said Pronature doesn't open until 11:00am. Dang, I'm having bait anxiety :-\
No leeches this time of year.
Just worn
Just got a note from Corina myself stating no more bait at Kipawa Bait and Tackle. Hmm. There are some other options, though Mr. Rhybak is right...don't think you'll find leeches this time of year.
Here's a helpful post of some places where you may find crawlers. Also you'll pass a place called Elwood Epps on the way up Hwy. 11 near Orillia...not sure if they sell bait or not, but possibly another option.

I spoke with Pronature this morning and they have crawlers by the dozen only, also said they open at 9:00 am. Brian said he has some crawlers but didn't sound like a lot, so to hedge my bets I will get some from Pronature to cover my arss.
Hodgely, if you're going through Thunder Bay try Billy Bob's Bait & Tackle. They are at 1370 Lakeshore Drive tel. 705-474-2248.

If you're going through Thunder Bay you're WAAAAAY off course. :o I'm confident Capt Hali meant North Bay...
I also just confirmed...Elwood Epps just north of Orillia on Hwy 11 will have crawlers, but no leeches.
Our issue is we won't be pulling into North Bay until about 10PM or so...no bait stores open that late.
I'm coming in late tonight, so I will be getting worms at Pronature in the morning.
OOps! North Bay is what I meant to say, sorry for the miss-directions. Also apologies for Miss-spelling Hodgeys' name.
Chalet Diane picked his leeches up at a bait spot on Trout Lake Road in North Bay last week. This place is on Trout Lake in where the float planes are. True this time of year makes them harder to get but u may get lucky here. I have been there myself.
Epps or any Canadian Tire has worms.
Prefer worms vs leeches in colder water...
Or even better, Berkley Power Minnows in Smelt... So much easier!!

I got leeches here too on Sept 2nd on my up to Kipawa.
They also had worms and when I was at camp Brian @ Alwaki had worms only.
Thanks everyone, bait disaster averted. Both Pronature and Stop 102 had worms on hand. Because Stop 102 opened early, I bought are bait and licenses there. No leeches, but plenty of worms :D
