Title: Moose Hunters
Post by: Nancy on October 12, 2017, 11:38:05 AM
Just wondering if we have any moose hunters on the board. How is the hunting going and any successful hunts?

I am not a moose hunter but I am getting updates daily from my friends hunting at Chalet Diane.  It has been a slow week thus far.  Temperature is still quite warm so the moose haven't been moving.  Fishing continues to be strong for the few fishermen that are there.  I was there last weekend and we were catching 40 Walleye a night in 18 to 23 ft of water.

The cool thing I saw on my way home was a Lynx crossing the highway just south of Chalet Diane.  I had to break to avoid hitting it.

A buddy of mine and his hunting group got two moose last week - saw a picture on facebook last night - they are a couple hundred KM from Kipawa area, but that was the best they ever did since setting up that hunt camp 4 or 5 years ago.

I've seen a lot of moose in the back of trucks or trailers on the North Bay bypass; mostly large bulls. Coming from the North highway.
I watched a group register their harvest at Stop 102 on Friday in Temang.
