Title: Questions re: Dropping Water Levels
Post by: RickOnt on October 19, 2017, 05:41:05 PM
I was told the water levels are dropping to benefit the Lake Trout spawning.

How does the lower levels actually make it beneficial?

Thanks
Rick

I read in another thread, that they drop it to create more shallower areas where the Trout prefer to spawn? I'm no expert, so hopefully someone else will chime in.

In years past the trout spawned then the lake water was dropped.  This put the eggs on dry land and the eggs died.  The theory is to drop the water after Sept.15.  This happens b4 the trout spawn therefore the eggs are protected

Yes does make sense    but if the Trout lay eggs at level X and the water drops below level X  We have a problem

I guess ya just gotta figure out what level x is

I think the water temps and daylight hours have a lot to do with when the Trout spawn.
