Title: One Lure
Post by: Canuckbass on March 23, 2018, 10:24:17 AM
Cabin fever is settling with most of us anticipating early ice out and get the boats wet. A fun question for everyone as we all fish differently and lots of different methods that we've all had fun on the water with.

If you had ONLY ONE lure to fish with for multi species, what would it be??? Live bait rigs allowed.

If I was stuck with only being able to use one bait for rest of my life it would be a tube. Every species eats them, even walleye. You can mimic a craw or minnow, rig with jighead or Texas rig weedless, or weightless. You can jig, pop, jerk, topwater its endless what you can do with a tube.

I don't use straight white a lot, I prefer a smoke colour, pumpkinseed or green pumpkin.
You can add rattle and load with scent.

Probably not to many fly fisherman out there that use flies on Kipawa  but it is a  truly challenging technique. 8 foot fly rod ,lead core line, 20 feet of mono leader silver streamer fly or perch coloured, trolling over deep water in the evenings will result in some of the best fishing anyone could ask for. Two to three colors will get you in the  strike zone. Also catches trout and pike. One of my favourite ways. Looking forward to another year!

We should buy one of each lure and a tackle tray and make a "kipawa starter kit".  And a kipawa "all you will ever need" kit , and a "kipawa  recommendations from the experienced fishermen" kit.  Put them on eBay and Amazon and make enough retire and .... try every lure in our kit!

Someone took mine. Small size shad rap (perch or bluegill finish). Early in the year trolling it's non stop action. Literally have a dozen in the box. Fishing partners ALWAYS opt for a spare and are never disappointed.

I use a light jig with 1/2 crawler 99% of the time on Kip so I guess that would be it.  Makes me wonder why I have so many tackle boxes and lures laying around LOL

If I use live bait I use 1/2 worm as well, rest of gang uses a big long full worm. Big believer with Kip walleye way more hook ups with more hook to bite then a big long tail the light biters nibble at.
1/4 oz jighead and 1/2 worm, can’t go wrong.
