Title: Boards and bugs
Post by: Rik on June 05, 2014, 10:59:33 PM
Hi all, just wandered if anyone ever tried planer boards on kip. I'm thinking about buying a set and just wanted some input. Also while your thinking about fishing how about the original bug shirt? I have bug jacket but was going to upgrade to this brand in the elite version. any feedback would be good. Thanks, Rick

Hi Rik,

We tried planers and mini planers for pulling plugs and rigs for a few years.  The results didn't seem any better than not using the boards but with a bit of extra hastle, so we stopped.

Cheers, Kevin

We have run planer boards on Kipawa.  We always jig or drop shot in the morning and night but if we go out during the day we have tried trolling with the big  boards.  We have picked up the odd walleye on body baits  and the odd  laker but haven't had great success.  We only run planers because  I usually have a boat full and it allows us to put out some extra lines.  We picked up a 4Ib laker last yr on an inline church board that enabled us to get a hot n tot closer to shore.
