It seems that many of our new members that join are bashful or just prefer to lurk. I thought I would give everyone a formal welcome to possibly engage some conversation with them. So I am formally welcoming our newest member Maxco to our humble forum. Feel free to tell us about yourself here or there is an introduction thread pinned to the top of this General Discussion. Welcome Aboard!
Welcome aboard to our newest member,
@ashil098! Make yourself feel at home.
Hi !! Thank you. I'm going fishing to Lake Kipawa in September for the first time so I'm pretty excited about it. For years I've heard my uncle tell stories of his trips up there and my uncles now have a friend who visits twice a year to the Lake so I can't wait to try it out. I guess they have a little cabin on an island near Corbeau Island.
Anyways, thanks for the add. Looking forward to learning more about this Lake.
Cheers
Max
Good fishing around there Maxco...welcome to the Board.

@scutlebut ! Our newest member. Make yourself feel at home
Thanks guys, used to frequent this group years ago, spent much of my childhood in laniel as my grandparents ( Rita and Alec miller) had their cottage beside the driveway to get down to Ellis's camp (currently Chalet Dianne). My son just sent me a link to Chalet Dianne still being for sale so siting here at work reminiscing and dreaming, not much I can do now living in California. But I will be watching for interesting posts so keep up the good work running this site guys. Fred.
A big welcome to Chazz as our newest member. Please introduce yourself and make yourself feel at home. There is an introduction thread in the pinned posts. Any questions everyone here is more than helpful.

Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to all the "scuttlebutt" on everything Lake Kipawa has to offer. I have been coming to Lake Kipawa since 1984. Can't stay away. Over the years my group has stayed at Corbeau, Alwaki, White Birch and Milwapanee Lodges. We usually are there for 2 weeks in June and may also head back for a late season week in September this year. We have "tagged" our group "The Old Farts". We didn't start out that way...but we all have added years! The 1st week of June can't come soon enough! I look forward to everyone's posts and hope to join in the conversation. Tight lines everyone!
Let's welcome our newest member, Finigan_1. Please feel free to introduce yourself here or the pinned post at the top of this board.

@SgtCrabby for welcoming the members that I missed. I have a bad habit of admitting them on my phone but hate to make a post from the phone. Apparently, senioritis has stuck and forgot to make a post once I got to the computer. Welcome to all the recent new members. Thank you for joining this humble group.
Thanks for the welcome.....have been fishing the area for the last 23 years, generally in May and early June. Have fished Kipawa out of Kipawa Lodge; Dumoine for many years through Kipawa Outfitters and Camps Coucoushee on Kikwissi. Always look forward to our trips up from SC, except for the black flies.
Cheers JMW
JMW, just curious how was your experience at coucoushee? What time of year and approx what year?

Thanks
I have been enjoying the forum for years, before that the old .net board too, just reading as a guest, usually daydreaming at work = a passive guest. But since I needed a bit of help I joined and Rhybak assisted immediately. Thanks!
May as well introduce myself then. From St. Catharines, Ont, our group from surrounding area and one buddy living in Pennsylvania have been going for approx 17 years to Kipawa. Love it and as a soon as we get back home we start dreaming of the next year.
Its not catching fish that's the most important, although its a close 2nd, but we never have any issues catching a lot of walleye. Jigs & leeches always work for us. Although after reading some posts a while back, I am going to try drop shotting. We do get a lot of snags with the jigs so maybe that will be a new improvement to our arsenal.
Heading up on May 29, like a kid at Christmas, it can't come fast enough.
Welcome to the board Rok
What camp do you go to?
Hi Rhybak - Kipawa Outpost
Welcome aboard the board RoK!
Thx for the Welcome !
Heading to Ogascanan Lodge beginning of June for the first time.
Can't wait !!!

I've been a member for about a year now, but haven't got around to posting. I figure this is a good place to start.
I've been going up to Lake Kipawa every year since I was born and staying at our family's cabin, but just got into fishing last year. I had been fishing for about a month when I came up for last year's trip, so needless to say I was a bit clueless.
Our trip this year is July 14th-21st. I am looking forward to getting up their and trying some of the techniques I have seen on this forum.
Ill be there the same week (july 15 to 21) - I'll be at Alwaki lodge - what area is your family cabin?
We put the boat in at the public ramp in Laniel and it's about a mile to the cabin from there.
Shanesaw - welcome to the forum - you can learn a lot here to prep for you trip. And I know you'll have a great time at Ogascanan. We made our first trip up there last year and are heading back up in 2 weeks. The Mullens are great hosts and will help you find fish. Listen to their tips. (leave some fish for us)
Please help me welcome

Thanks for the add. I will be making my first trip up to Kipawa July 29 - August 5 and will be staying at Taggart Bay Lodge. Any info on what type of tackle for walleye and general techniques for that time of year would be awesome. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Also what is the best place to stop on the way in for groceries? I'm coming from Pittsburgh Pa. Thanks in advance. Tight Lines!

Thank you! My name is Erin, I live in Boston but my grandpa is from Hunter's Point, Quebec. Most of his brothers, sisters and family are scattered throughout Kipawa, Temiscaming and the surrounding areas. I spent my summers at Hunter's Point, moved up Temiscaming briefly after college and now just visit once or twice a year to fish, trap and reconnect with fmaily and friends. Came across the page here while I was doing some research on the Hunter's Point Church and am so glad I did! Great page and love reading everyone's posts.
@erinw89 Welcome - I have some pictures of the church taken last July (when I visited it) for the first time if you are interested.
Greg
Hey Greg,
Id love to see them! Thanks :)

Welcome Paul. What lodges are you looking at?
TBL is my preference at this time
@Paul ; for TBL, Oarin is a good one to talk with; he's been there a number of times and knows it well.
Thanks for the suggestion. I will contact him.
Any advice on Walleye fishing in this part of the lake is appreciated.

Welcome guys, let us know where your heading to and feel free to ask for help if you need to. Lots of knowledge on the lac here.
Just wanted to introduce myself to the board.
I've never fished Kipawa before but I decided to organize a trip up there late September with my 72 year old dad who fished it several years ago and always spoke about how good the fishing was. The same group of us have done a yearly weekend trip and this year we decided to make the trip up there.
Hopefully we can catch a few fish but more importantly enjoy spending some time with friends & family.
Cheers,
You'll love it! Enjoy.
Just be aware Who, Kipawa can be very addictive...
