Quote from: Flystik on July 31, 2025, 09:17:24 AMIn response to Jiggin' Fool. With a fly rod I target SMB and pike.  I use a seven weight rod and primarily fish shore line structure and shade on the top.  Popping bugs and deer hair bugs seem to work most of the time.  Using a sink tip line seems to be inconsistent.  I have hooked up on 3-4 lb bass on the long rod and it is chaotic/riotous to say the least.  My boat partner does not fish but finds SMB on a fly rod to be humorous.
Likewise experience with pike.
As far as walleye, not on my fly rod list.  I do try for walleye every year for a hour or two but have no success.  I lack patience.

During the day time, I seem to do better with a spin rod using a wacky rig, drop shot or single hook Mepps Anglia.

Thanks!
I use to love trout fishing with my fly rod, haven't done it in a long time, might have to break it back out.

OK, seems there is certainly some current love out that for our KFF. Let's keep it going then, at least try for another couple of years..........more to follow early next week.

Apologies for almost giving up.
Thanks everyone!

Flystik
I'd be interested in how you fish with a fly rod on Kipawa and what you target.  Is it mainly the bass, or walleye too?  I'd imagine the bass must be a riot on a fly rod.
