Well, it's pretty clear they're going through North River Dam to get there as they mention getting into Lac Audoin. I'm familiar with most of Lac Audoin, but not so much that SE area off the tip of Turtle Island. My guess is the bay NE of Grant's Pass, but I've never fished there and have never heard of it referred to it as Sawmill Bay. I guess Wayne could confirm...he's on the Board from time to time.

I would caution this 'topo map view' as illustrated does NOT include many of the islands I know are present...some of them small...some not so small. This could throw you off if you're trying to use this for navigation or from a "near this area" perspective, but in total this map has a LOT of information on it to go by.

Hodgey is full of something...that's for sure...but this is an award-winning idea....way overdue and so useful to all. Dare I say, an inspired idea, an award winning idea. First Bleue on me at Au Bercail a week from now...

Thanks everyone for the nice comments, Google has made it pretty easy for us.

We actual have a top map that includes “most” sicken rocks that unfortunately are known by locals because we have taken off a pro or bottom end on them

Will try to look locate it as there are a few up through Audoin and quite a few puckster up past red pine

Whatever you do when you go through north river stay way to the left before audoin and stay to the left up through the river

Please, anyone with information/maps/memories of Prop-Buster & other hazards in the lake, mark them best you can on the collaborative map project. Also, anyone who may not be tech savvy, with information that they would like added, I can do it for you.

This is a valuable map for non-residents of the area, particularly, for possibly reducing damage to camp and private boats. For those tech challenge, please send me whatever information you want added and I will do it for you.

That's the first thing I noticed too, for example the small islands as you go through the shortcut aren't there and after going up Turtle chute it doesn't even show the right side of the island as water. A member on fish-hawk set up a similar resource for shore fishing spots. For sure no one should even think about using this for anything but putting a name to an area of the waterway. Apart from that it's a great resource for members here to access, wtg Hodgey.

Thanks @smitty55 , I completely agree with you and @T-Bone pointing that out. My idea for this, was never intended to be for true navigation, more about pointing out points of interest and areas of concern.

Like I had mentioned before, part of my living is map making for a utility, using GIS software. If I can get my hands on a Good scalable USGS type map, I will transfer the data on to it, then scan it on my large format scanner at work and post here for all to use and download.

Hidden gems under the water worry me for both camp boats and my own. I would really like the mapping to morph into marking areas of prop concern as much as anything. I have labeled two spots I have encountered while at Kipawa on the map, that have no markers. One is a small island just east of Alwaki, on its west side are rocks that come up close to the surface. The other is at Grant Pass. If you look at the rocks there on the east side, there’s gray paint from my Lund........

I know the Owners of the Outfitters, Like Alwaki and Kipawa Lodge, could benefit from a map showing danger zones. I will speak to Brian while there next week and collaborate on marking up a map with his vast knowledge of the area. I will PM Kipawa Lodge and make the same request, I know this isn’t the right time of the year, cause they’re both busy folk, but at least get the seed planted as a winter project possibly.

Ha, it will, I will try to get the video from my buddies phone, it looked great.   

We went through the chute at least 5 times this week - I caught the trips largest walleye up there with a 24 inch measure... got a picture of that also...

We had 2 newbies this week - they were like "whhhhaaaat are you about to do?   whaaaat are you doing?"  then zoooom and it was over.

Wind played a pretty nasty part also - went up there Thursday evening, wind was strong and hit a strong gust and turned the nose a little to the right... made me pucker a little...  Brian at Alwaki did tell me one of the local cottagers close to the chute took some dynamite to it to help out a little.

Dynamite!!! Wow I guess you'd have to be a local to get away with that. If I recall there's one huge boulder at the top that would be a good target.
