This does not relate to Kipawa but I know we are all fans of catching fish so I thought I would share my weekend and what will pretty much be my routine for the fall.  With the falling of water temperatures brings great walleye fishing.  We were out this weekend on the stretch of Ottawa river by my house and caught 21 walleye in the morning the largest being 25.5".  We also caught 6 pike all around 2-3lbs, 4 crappie and 5 catfish.  One thing about the river the action is usually nonstop so lots of fun.  Other than the week I'm gone moose hunting my boat will be in the water constantly until the snow fly's or the lakes freeze over.  Anybody else getting out this fall?

Usually I have my boat in until late november. This year due to the tilt/hydraulics quit on me and some other issues I got the old tub retired for good. I'm replacing it in the spring. I Love fall fishing, it's cooler and better fishing. I get my best fish late in the fall.
Days spent fishing don't count against life :)

Hi Ozzy,

Just wondering whether or not you eat the walleye you catch in the Ottawa River.

Hey Ozzy,

I fish the Ottawa River east of Ottawa up to the weather basically makes it a miserable experience - meaning windy and cold.  I was on the river by 7:30am on Saturday and it was -1 degree but warmed up quickly - it was beautiful out but unfortunately I got skunked!!!  My buddy had some action but nothing to compare to your success (congrats!).

We were not fishing walleye specifically though - but wish we would have had more action.

Cheers,
Greg

Jay I do eat the walleye out of the Ottawa.  Tastes just as sweet there as any place else I've caught them.  I will also fish a couple local lakes and the Madawaska River as well.  The launch at the river is 8 minutes from my house so convenient.  Greg it was a beauty day but with the thickness of the fog I wouldn't have found my way up the river without electronics.  I think a repeat Wed and Thurs night this week also.  Trying to get out lots before leaving for the moose hunt next Friday.

Thanks Ozzy. Good luck on your hunting trip.

Your so luck to have walleye fishing at your front door! I am very jealous, I have to drive no less than 2 hours to get any kind of decent walleye fishing and even with that it's never those kinds of numbers. We typically fish thanksgiving weekend as well and love it. We did not this year and are totally regretting.. never again will we miss this weekend!

We need to move! LOL!

Congrats on the great weekend!
