We had a nice window of good weather, been a rainy couple of weeks and we got four nice days, storm came in after we were off the water Monday.  We were a group of four in a rented houseboat.  We towed our boats with us and fished out of them while the houseboat was tied off to an island down by Lac Hunter.  We tried different points and shoals with good fishing, had a fish fry and brought fish home.   Pickerel was the target fish, but we also caught Pike, Lake Chub and Smallmouth Bass.  Lima Charley stopped for a chat on our way out, thanks LC.  Lots of boats from Kipawa Lodge on the lake, Alwaki looked pretty quiet.  Sorry no pictures.  Dave

Dave,

Where’d the other boats on Hunter seem to be lingering around?

Note, not looking for specific “spots”.  Just if they were generally trolling shorelines, open water trolling, jigging in the narrows or point/shoals like you, etc….
I’ve hit Hunter for around 4 decades.  She has some very consistent areas….and others that seem to bloom once every 3-5 years, maybe.

Thanks

Glad you had a good trip @NovarDave . the House boat sounds like an interesting way to explore Kipawa.
Walleye Rock!

@NovarDave we have been wanting to try the houseboat option. Are there any specific rules on where you are allowed to keep it out on the water? Any tips of things to bring when on the boat you may not normally bring when at a camp?

Nice report thanks!.. 2.5 weeks until we get our first trip this year to Kip.. CAN'T WAIT!

@BigChief  The boats have to be tied up at night.  We usually tie off to an Island and use that as our home base for the trip.  We tow smaller boats for our fishing.  No Lodge freezer available just a small one in the kitchen so it is a good idea to bring extra coolers and lots of ice.  No electricity so we bring a small generator to charge batteries etc.  Other than that, most of the cooking stuff you want is there, I bring foil, freezer bags etc like you do at a Lodge.
@GregL Thank you, Good luck and enjoy.
