Towing a tube

I recently purchased a 2018 Lund 1975 ProV with a factory made hole for a ski pole, with what looks like a locking mechanism to  secure the post once inserted? I plan on occasionally taking the grandkids out for a tube ride and I want to do it correct/safe as possible. I have done a little online reading that mentioned the ski pole having a warning on it not to tow a tube? The comments said that was due to a tube having the ability to dive and causing the post to break? Hmmm, nothings ever simple.  I only intend on tubing. So I have a few questions.

• Tips and input on tubing on a ski post or any other methods
• Do I need to go to Lund For this post or are there other suppliers
• Is there some other more preferable method to tow a tube other than a post

When I was looking at the boat to buy it, I saw the ski hole provided as a plus, now I'm uncertain???

I agree with @RHYBAK, most manufacturers only recommend the pole to be used for skiing not pulling tubes. Apparently tubes can put a lot more pressure on the boat. If your boat has a kicker, you may want to consider a long bridle such as those used for pontoon boats to get the clearance you need. Just be very careful if you ever pop it into reverse with the bridle out! 😳 it will put a quick end to the tubing for the day if you don't

As someone who has a Lund with a ski pole, do not tow with the pole. Lund directly says it’s not for tubing.

We tubed behind our Pro-V before trading it in for a pontoon and a Tyee.

Anyways, you need to pick up one of those tube harnesses that connects to the D-rings on the transom.  Boat feels better like that as well.

Lund does sell the ski pole. I think it was like 150 bucks or so. Great for skiing and boarding.

We do not have a Lund. So not sure.

Anyway we use a bridle and it works good. For both tubing and skiing.

The post would be best for wakeboarding as it will keep the rope higher and out of the water.
