Does anyone know of any free wifi hotspots in the Kipawa area?

I've tried searching for some but have came up empty.

Thanks.

Dog

I don't think any one on this forum goes to kipawa to find a wifi signal... quite the contrary actually.... I think we all go to unplug and get away from technology. Good luck though.

I am with Dog on this one.  The only reason I take my cell phone with me is for emergency use on the road, at the lake there is NOcell service and I love it.

Would be nice to have cell service. I am in the process of looking into satellite phones, mainly for emergencies. I definitely enjoy being off the grid but I just worry in case something happens. We are an hour and a half away from kipawa.

I understand Guy's, I agree mostly. Though it would be nice to be able to check in with home about mid week just to see how things are going.

The 6th of August is the one year anniversary of nearly losing our oldest Daughter to sepsis. We are blessed that she is still with us today, thanks to God and the dedication of the Doctors and support staff at the hospital as well as myself fighting around the clock to keep her alive.

It didn't come without consequences though, she now is a quadruple amputee as a result of the medications we used to keep her alive, and the disease process it's self.

So, I do kind of like to have the ability to contact home at least mid week.

Though, I am taking this vacation to get away for a little while for some mental health.

Thanks, Jeff

And I understand your thinking.  You can rent Sat. phones for a week or two.  That might be your best option.

John

Jeff, Do you stay at an outfitter or do you have your own camp?  Most of the outfitters have a satellite phone at their camps.

You can get cell coverage in Kipawa or Temiscaming; maybe Temrose Restaurant has wifi for customers...not sure.

We've had sat phones up there before; they work, in general, but where you get the signal and for how long is a bit inconsistent....and they're not cheap to rent either. If you're going solo off-grid it may be your best option, but if you're staying with an outfitter just use their phone.

Good luck...

Thank you john c.

We are camping and fishing in the Zec, I am going to be there with johnny walleye and my old work partner's Husband.

I'm as excited as a kid on Christmas Eve, can't wait.

Just thought if there was wifi available when we do a mid week run to town, I could use the wifi to call home. There by avoiding using cell service and the international charges and such.

Thanks, Jeff

T-Bone, thank you.

You and I were typing at the same time it appears.
