I have to ask this dumb question.  Are the bugs as brutal this late in the year in the Kipawa region as they are down here in PA? I have always heard go July or later to avoid the bugs.  I guess I am saying this is the worst year for black flies and mosquitos in PA I can ever remember. Is it the same up there?

Where in PA are you talking about?

Hi Kent, Capt. Guy and I have been at TBL on Kipawa in late August the last few years and there were no black flies and very few mosquitoes. We sat on the open deck each night with no problems. The evening fishing time is less, but it's much more enjoyable. I will never go back in May, June, or even early July. We've had little problems here in Upstate NY this year either. Oarin.

I was last at camp 2 weekends ago. Pretty much bug free. A few skeeters at dusk that quickly disappeared then bug free again.Going up again next weekend and I don't expect to see anymore.
Days spent fishing don't count against life :)

I'm in Venango County and the bugs this year here have been very few.

A few more black flies this spring than usual. Other than that a normal year for bugs in Somerset/Cambria County.
