600 miles north

Nice report NortonJoe, we also had much luck with a silver Hot n Tot which unfortunately did not come back with us! Cheers!

Brad
600 miles north is where I'd rather be!

@600 miles north...Brad...You know that half the fun of the trip is getting to go buy replacements for all the tackle you lose each year, right?

@puckster_guy So true!  As far as lures, I really prefer hot n' tots and daredevils and use them almost exclusively.  I have to admit, however, that if another lure catches my eye, it ends up in my shopping cart. But then, my former father-in-law always claimed that lures were designed more to catch fishermen than fish!

, Hey Joe. I've been hooked on the ripplin red fin. It's got me a ton of walleye and pike for that matter. Give one a try.

- never heard of the rippling red fin so I had to google it, I can see why it would produce fish, which model do you use?
Love fishing

The one pictured, A shad body(white with a black stripe going down the back and a fire tiger one. It trolls to about 7 feet. The chrome works best on sunny days.

Great report!  Thanks

I went to fillet some fish earlier this evening and tried your shears idea;  I am now hooked on that good idea; big thank you! :)

NortonJoe

@puckster_guy  Thanks! Now I have something else to stock up on. ;D I'm sure they are effective with pike, too.  Over the years I've found that the lighter colored lures and/or silver or gold seem to work better.  Must be because the water is stained by all that tannin...

@SgtCrabby I'm glad the shears worked for you too! Like I said, it was totally chance that I had a set with me but I'll never go without them again!

................ Man, that feeling you get that first time back on the water...the quiet, broken only by the water lapping the boat, the smell of the pine and water along with the motor, that first cold beer and that first cast into the water...I don't think I can do it justice...............

Nice report @NortonJoe.... the statement I quoted above, I think you did a great job capturing the essence, and anyone else who does trips like these will know exactly the feeling you mean!
