I drove up on friday hitting heavy snow from Barrie to Orillia. The roads got progressively drier once I got past Gravenhurst. An easy drive till I got to Maniwaki rd. No Nate I didn't have my Jeep with me...Long story short a major disagreement with the garage over cost and extent of repairs and they still have my Jeep awaiting arbitration.n'uff said. I had to buy a 96 honda civic to get around. I'm buying a new truck this spring Either a Silverado or a F150. Maybe a Tacoma. I used my brothers F150 and fell in love used it about 3 trips. Took the honda on several. A tough little car it took some abuse I got it with snows on it TG it held to Maniwaki like glue Icy base covered with packed snow. The ice and snow really smoothed the road. I rarely drove over 50kph(30mph)

I made it safly to camp after 6 hours in the car. Outside temp -3, not much warmer inside. Immediately cracked open a beer and lit the wood stove. Outside was a bit windy as it stayed all weekend The sky was lit up with stars. Got up around 7 and shovelled out the boat and built the frame and tarped it.

puttered around the rest of the day with insulation and other chores wishing all along to go for a troll. I left around 9am when it started snowing heavily didn't wanna push my luck lol. Some hills were scarey going up but it seemed to the road well enuff. more pics posted on my photobocket page...http://s1063.photobucket.com/user/puckster_guy/library/Kipawa%202014?sort=2&page=6

PG, I don't know how to tell you this but I like the pictures with a lot of green in them-------Not white.  I hate snow!  Was good to see the pictures, even if they had a lot of white.  Keep up the good work.

John
Smile, every one will wonder what you have been up to.

Joe... I love that you took a Honda civic to your camp! Sorry to hear about the jeep arbitration... Like you I will probably be car shopping in the spring as the wife is wanting a Toyota Land Cruiser or Lexus LX570 to drive around town.
On a side note, I'll have impeccably maintained 2007 4Runner V6, Limited for sale in the springtime if you're interested ;-)
It knows the way down the Maniwaki well as it's made the trip past the hodge podge driveway since 2011. I even have the red pine chutes programmed into it's navigation system as a waypoint :-)

Good to hear you got some more chores done and the camp is progressing right along. it'll be spring before we all know it and then you can get back to the hodge podge lodge for more progress!

thanks for sharing the pictures.
One more cast...

Hi Joe:

Loved the pics in your post as well as those on photobucket. Thanks for sharing. Is your Kipawa home completely insulated yet?

not yet Jay. I had the ceiling done in the high ceiling in the front but red squirrels got in before they could install the soffits and knocked much of it down. The soffits are now in so problem solved. I was gonna insulate bit too many small projects got in the way. The warmest the wood stove would heat the place was around 11C. Nothing Wisers and a good sleeping bag couldn't handle. BTW what happened to him?.  Gonna finish the interior over the next two summers....gotta buy more lottery tiks lol.

Dog that truck would be sweet for the trails up there. i used to take the jeep on some atv trails and it did fine. The F150 did a fine job pulling out some big fallen trunks around to be cut. lol.I like the idea of an open box like a Tacoma  I'll prob end up with whatever is on sale lol. This trip taught me a lot about having snow tires I rarely slipped. I barely made it up one hill the tires kept traction. Can't wait for spring :)

About the civic? life is strange. When i used to come up there about 25 yrs ago I used to come up in a 1976 honda civic wagon. It survived many trips. That was it's third trip to camp. Simply take it slow and it'll get you there. Thats about the 4th civic I've owned. Went thru a couple on a fifty mile daily commute(one way).
