Had another great week with Reg at 3 Seasons with the Coke Boys from the Hammer (including my two sons). Weather like the fishing was unsettled all week .Each day it was hard to decide if we were in for a thunder storm ,sunny skies or a drenching rain .We ,as a group , caught bigger fish (many 3-5lb pickerel) but seemed to have a harder time catching consitant numbers .lWe fish the bottom using a 1/8oz jig head with a worm or leech .The surface water temp was about 69' F and the may fly hatch hadnt really started. Our group caught a few lakers trolling on the surface . We also caught a handful of smallmouth .Even caught a brown bullhead catfish in Smith Bay . We fished pretty much everywhere except Moose Bay .Found an active bald eagles nest ,saw 2 moose during the week and heard of a nearby bear sighting. Photos to follow when I get them all from my group .A great week thanks to our host Reg

Thanks for the report Mike.  Sounds like a good week overall.  Can't wait to see the pics when you get a chance to post them.

We are heading up to 3 Seasons this coming weekend and these reports make the anticipation that much harder to bear.

Agree with Pike Mike on the week.  For us the first few days were tough with one here and one there and  we stayed on the move.  found a few bigger fish mid week and it was on from there.  Deb did here usual lake trout gig teaching me how to catch and be patient!  Highlight of the week was when my wife hooked a 20 inch bass on one side of the boat and it swam under the boat launching itself fight past my wife's head and landing in the boat - that was a good 10 minute laugh!  Seen a moose on way home on road to Temiscaming and than 1/2 mile later saw where a car had hit one.  Grisly scene and pray no one hurt.  As usual Reggie and crew provided the excellent service making the week enjoyable and the camp guests were a great bunch to spend a week with.  looking forward to next year.  Some pics posted on Kipawa friends facebook site and 3 seasons facebook site.

You're all making the waiting so much more painful.  5 days and counting...

Thanks for the updates!

Can't say I disagree with this statement.....except I have longer than 5 days :(.....but not much longer (8 days) :)

mcsteve

3 more days.  The longest days of the year 😝

SgtCrabby

I have a few more than that. I have 28 days until home departure, not arrival.

Wisers - I am sorry that I cant really offer any advice as far as dealing with or entertaining kids . I am truly blessed with two sons who during their first visits (each a few years ago without their brother for company )  to 3 Seasons at  ages 13 and 10 found no problem with fishing all day rain or shine .They also found a way entertain themselves more or less .Having never experienced seclusion or mass bug attacks they both did great on their first visits . My young son is a bug magnet so this was an issue but he came out ok .Making things easier for them was the fact that they knew all my fishing group well before going . Each time I brought one of them for their first visit I was really nervous about how things would work out .Each child was given certain responsibilities within the group ,getting ice  ,buttering breakfast toast , cooler stocking etc . I think that helped them feel as equal members in our group of adult men rather than just a tag along kid .each got and gave respect within the group .Each child also had and was responsible for their own tackle . No Daddy taking care of everything . They both had been bass and perch fishing at our family cottage their whole life so, that helped .To their credit it couldn't have gone any better .
Sorry ,no real advice in all of that ??????  :P

PikeMike,
For no real advice, that is the best I've heard in a while.
Introduced to fishing before, know the rest of group, and treated as an equal part of the team with their own responsibilities.

@ PikeMike, I agree with @SgtCrabby that you actually did provide some good advice.
My kids have been fishing as well, just not a long term trip like yours, so I'm glad I'm sort of starting mine off the way you did because it seems to have paid off for you!
Giving them odd chores is something we try to alsways do as well, regardless of if we're on a trip or not.
I have a picture of my oldest helping me load firewood into the house when she was 3 (now 6)......man, hard to beat memories like that!
I'll try to keep your advice in mind during our trip and give them odds and ends to do.

I'll keep you all posted on how it goes!

Thanks, glad you had a great time and it all went well:
