Anyone fished this area of the lake near the Kipawa Outpost? I will be staying there in a few weeks.

T-Bone

That's down by town, if I'm not mistaken. Never fished there, but I know many of the 'locals' travel a fair-bit up into the Sunnyside area to get into consistent fishing. May be different as autumn approaches, but locals are probably your best resource there.

@T-Bone  is right, it's best check with the locals.
Talking to Paul at Kipawa Outpost is a good place to start.....

That end of the lake used to be our "stomping ground" when I was a kid, back then my brother and I (and often buddies of ours) fished around there all the time.
But I haven't really fished it (or fished much in general) in over 15 years ago.

Back then, baie pickerel was one of the hot spots (down mid way into Baie Pratt, south side)  used to be good for the obvious and sometimes a good size pike would move into the area.
Take it slow entering in through Baie du Canard as it's shallow, rocky and stumpy.....the worst area for underwater hazards is right before you get into the open part of the bay (between baie du canard and baie pickerel).
There used to be a lot of paint on a large rock just below the surface of the water in this area LOL.

T-Bone is also right that sunnyside is not too far a trip and usually produced some good action.
In around the sand bank used to be where we would head, just around dusk produced the best action but also produced a dark ride home since you'll be heading back to Kipawa village area.
Be sure you have lights and a GPS that you can see at night.
Lac Kipawa is very difficult to navigate at night if you don't know your way around, and with it's many bays etc it's easy to get turned around.
So, be smart if you venture up the lake away from "home base".

Jigging in front of the cliff at Ile Grand Mont (basically straight across from Kipawa Village) often produce some Lake Trout.
As did jigging down by the stumps in Baie Latour (which we all called Moose Bay).

But again, this is from my memory of the area 15-20 years ago (my goodness where does the time go), so get local information.
Have fun!
