Three of us returned home Wed 16 Sep from a week (Wed 9 Sep to Wed 16 Sep) at Camp Coucoushee on Lac Kikwissi in ZEC Kipawa. The Abitibi fiberglass boats, the Yamaha 15 HP 2 stroke outboards and the accommodations were satisfactory. I spent the week fishing by myself because my fishing partner had to cancel 3 weeks before departure. While there was no one to talk to while fishing (except for the occasional exchange on the walkie talkie), I had lots of boat room to myself. I spent time exploring and learning the lake - trying to establish what areas of the lake held more than the occasional walleye. Lac Ogascanan, Lac Sasseginaga and Lac kikwissi all share a maximum walleye harvest length of 21 inches to protect the walleye breeding stock. We caught enough walleye to have two walleye meals during the week and take a few home too. For the first 5 days of the trip, the weather was cool (high of 17 degrees C with lows around 7 degrees C) and overcast. Surface water temperature started out at 71 and cooled to 66 over the first 5 days. Monday and Tuesday were both blue bird sky days with temperatures around 24 degrees C - just two wonderful days to be on the water. Our group contracted with Air Medic, an air ambulance service in Quebec, for helicopter pick up in case an emergency occurred. Cost for each of us was $50 for the week. Some outfitters include access to Air Medic services.

@Jay Thomas - Great report and beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing!
Thanks also for the interesting information about Air Medic, I didn't even realize such a service was available.
Take care:

Thanks for the report Jay. Sounds like you had an enjoyable time. Too bad your partner had to cancel. I look forward to seeing you all next year. Gary.

Nice report Jay.
Thanks for sharing in these dry times.
To bad about your partner.
I'm sure you had plenty of gear in the boat to weigh the front of the boat down.
Sometimes its great to fish alone.
You solve a lot of problems in the world while out there by yourself
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Jay, glad you had a safe and enjoyable trip. That's a bummer that your partners had to cancel so late in the game, but like RHYBAK said sometimes that is where you solve the worlds problems and can hear yourself think for once. We all could use some more of that from time to time. Thanks for sharing the pics with us!  ;)

600 miles north is where I'd rather be!
