Anyone out here ever stayed at this motel in Letang? It's between what is considered 'downtown' Temiscaming and where the Auberge Canadienne Restaurant is located. Looks new, clean, and the price is right. Any feedback on it in terms of quality, comfort, etc.?

North Bay hotels at the end of July are really pricey, so we're "going back" to spending our Friday evening on the east side of the Ottawa River. We looked at the Auberge Temrose...just doesn't fit our requirements in terms of space and sleeping arrangements. The only other choice is the Auberge Canadienne...and I've been clear in the past about why we don't stay there anymore.

Thanks for this insights...much appreciated.

T-Bone, I've stayed there a couple of times. The rooms are nothing special, but it's fine for an overnight. Years ago they served a pretty good meal too. There's an older and a newer section.

Clean is what we're going for; doesn't have to be fancy, doesn't have to be decorative, just clean. No meals are necessary...that's what the Bleue is for!  ;D

In the interest of public service and recognizing it would be a subjective opinion, how would it compare to the other motel up the street? If I said that auberge was a 5 on a 1-10 scale, how does the Au Bercail compare?

We have been staying there for about 20 years. The "new" section is fine. Nothing special but it works. Clean enough for us. We drive up from Ohio, eat dinner in North Bay, get fishing licenses at the gas station on the corner,  stay overnight and go eat in the AM at the Canadian then off to the backroads to Lake Dumoine. Stayed at the Canadian once, not impressed. Overall it works for us.

Hello T Bone, have stayed here many times and have always been pretty satisfied and agree with Oarin. We stay on the side of the office which may be the old side but it always seems clean. only thing once in a while it has been a little noisy with late check ins but, the Blues help with that too. Never stayed at the Canadian  so cant compare. For many years we stayed at the travel lodge in north bay but I was forced to switch after my 16 year old discovered Fannies.....

We've been there 4 or 5 times and it works just fine for us.  Clean and comfortable.  The breakfast is a do-it-yourself kind of thing with cereal, toast, and such.  We stayed on the older side once but prefer the newer units out front.  They're quieter, plus they have whirlpools - a treat at the end of a week-long canoe trip!

Its not too bad, I mean for one night.  We prefer the one up the road that has more of a restaurant

Wherever you do decide to lay over, don't neglect the Restoroute for some good eatin's, especially breakfast.   If you happen to do lunch, you have to try the Restocheese cheeseburger, it's like a Big M*C, only way better.  It's just a stone's throw up from the Bercail, on the same side of the road.  You won't be disappointed.

Tried to check it out online and a listing I found said the Restoroute was closed/out of business. Does the Temrose serve breakfast?

Eat at the temrose every year, both dinner and breakfast. they do a pretty good job, particularly breakfast. usually serving by 630. as an aside , had one of those experiences there, I think in 09 . got to see the Pens and Red wings game 7 with a bunch of Detroit fans... watched in French too...
never stayed there though. down to 85 days.

I can confirm that the Restoroute is not closed :).  I had a (wonderful) breakfast there this morning.  They are temporarily  closed on mondays only because of being short on personnel.  Lorraine is no longer the owner and has not been for a few years now but the current owner, Ellaine, is more than happy to serve the same good food as always.
