Just got back from Chibougamau last nite.  Our trip was cut short by real cold weather, rain, and high winds.  Fishing was FANTASTIC the five days we fished.  Saturday morning myself and two friends went out for five hours caught about twelve walleye for dinner average about 18-21 inches.   B  iggest of the day was 30 in 81/2 lb monster caught by me.  Biggest one ever for me  Threw back about 20 keeper between 16-19 inchesWent pike fishing for about one hour, between the three of us we caught about 15 pike in the 22-35 inch range in that time shot.  We were just tossing Johnson weedless silver spoons in the grass and reeds and retrieving.  They are stacked up like lumber in the grassy area of the lake.  Next day another 8 keepers and another at least 20 thrown back.  Monday weather was real bad went out for hour no walleye  3 foot rollers on the lake got the heck off for the day. Tuesday went to the river that flows into the lake, killed the walleye.  Kept 15 keepers avg 18-21 inches and threw back 31 walleye between 15 -18 inches. Wednesday weather was reel cold went out in morning for 4 hrs in a bay we always caught walleye. Hammered them for two hrs , kept 10 between 18-20 inches released another 20 keepers.  Only caught two walleye under 14 inches for the five days fished.  Yesterday went out for one hr real cold about 36 degrees high wind, four foot rollers.  Got back to cabin packed up and headed back home for the 12 hr drive.  Been going to this lake the past three years.  This lake is one of best walleye and pike producing lake in Canada.  All walleye caught on worm harnesses.  Enough of Chibougamau will be at TBL/Kipawa next month.  First time at Kipawa and hope to just get a good taste of the fishing at Kipawa and TBL.  SEE U THERE

Wow WD, I'd heard how good that lake was. Glad to hear it still is. I'm pretty sure you're in cabin 4 the week my son, Jon, and I are there. We'll stop in and see you.Rambler and his wife Ellen will also be there in cabin#3. He is a wealth of knowledge on the area. Oarin.

Thanks for posting your report. No wonder the weather was cool - you guys were UP north. Regardless, seems like you caught lots of fish. I was disappointed with the quality of information on the Pourvoirie Chibougamau web site - http://www.pourvoiries.com/en/outfitter/pourvoirie-chibougamau-02-616/   Is there another website? Are the boats and motors relatively new? Thanks in advance.

Website for only outfitter on the lake is camp de penche pomerleau.  A few older boats and motors to rent at camp but I guess there is a couple of places in Chimbougamau u can rent from.  Town is only a few miles from lake.  Most people bring their own boats.  Place is usually booked solid from opening day through July then slacks of to 60% full because lake trout fishing is closed on the lake until 2020.  Walleye fishing and pike fishing is OUTSTANDING.  Whitefish and speckle trout in lake also.  My friend has been coming here for 26 straight years and he said he has never been disappointed.
