Covid-19

Hello Friends,

We hope this finds you and your families healthy and safe. In the past few days, it has become apparent that this pandemic will continue longer than anyone could have anticipated. Therefore, we have had to make some important decisions. It clearly will not be business as usual at Kipawa Lodge, come May 15, 2020.

The Quebec government has extended the travel ban and the closure of the border until at least May 4th. The border between Canada and the US remains closed until further notice. Our season will be delayed for several weeks. Regretfully we must postpone all reservations from May 15-June 27, 2020. July reservations will be determined at a later date. This is necessary to protect your health, the health of our staff, ourselves and all loved ones.

Please if you can, consider rescheduling your fishing trip to later in the season. We will remain open at least until October 16, 2020.

We realize most of you have never fished Kipawa Lake this time of year. Rest assured, the fish have no calendars, the weather can be fantastic, the bugs are minimal. In our opinion, any Kipawa fishing is better than no Kipawa fishing!

If you are unable to reschedule for 2020, we will gladly honor your deposit for a date in 2021. Please keep in mind the fishing season will open one week later next year, Friday May 21, 2021.

We are available anytime to answer your questions.

Please, stay home, stay safe and help stop the spread!

Sincerely,

Wayne and Barb

Hard times for sure.

A hard time for you Wayne.  I hope things will clear up earlier and allow you to revisit and adjust your timing for opening.

Yes very sad. I had no idea that in 33 years at the lodge I would ever have to write such a letter. We will survive and be even stronger in 2021. You know the old saying what doesn't kill you...…. On a positive note a lot of our  regular guests have opted to try there hand at September fishing. We really appreciate there understanding continued patronage.  :) Stay safe everyone. We will get through this!

In my neck of the woods fall fishing is the best.Good Luck Wayne. This will all blow over soon, I think you'll be just fine, I'm just looking at it as a late start. Take care, bro.
Days spent fishing don't count against life :)

Hey Puckster, Thanks. You are right. Just a bump in the road!. I know where your camp is and I may have some extra time for a boat ride in the spring. You never know! Take care.

Wayne, I feel bad for you and all of the outfitters. I truly hope you can all weather this unprecedented storm and bounce back. Small bushiness is who is going to be hurt the worst in all of this, as you all have a lot at stake.

Best wishes for a beautiful fall, my favorite time to be at Kipawa.

Hey Hodgey

Thanks for responding about this pandemic. It is really difficult to comprehend. The majority of our guests are most at risk as they are long time visitors to the area and in that age bracket. Myself included. There health is most important. The economic impact to the area will be devastating. If you think about yourself. By the time you leave your house for a trip to Kipawa how many dollars are spent. Tackle, gas ,food, licenses, restaurants, over night accommodations, boating equipment, bait, phones camera's, coolers, alcohol ect…..  Just for one group multiply that  by 150 just for my location.  Wow!! Then multiply that by all of the outfitters and businesses in the area. Going to be a tough year.

We've never met Wayne, but I am sorry it's come to this. Wonder how many people realized the most damage to our way of life is going after the closures are lifted. The economic fall out is going nothing less than horrendous!

Hopefully, you and the other lodges fair ok after this is all over with.

Hey Wayne,
So sorry to hear this news, we wish you and your family the best for the future and getting through all this.
We haven't met before (maybe once in passing on Windy lake road) but have passed your place a number of times while out and about on the lake and watched the progress you've made over the years, truly amazing.
Here's a pic from sometime ago that might bring back some fond memories for you:

Take care:
