Sad news

Just to let everyone know that Kipawa has lost a long time resident. Pat Bucher of Buchers store passed away last week at the age of 94. If anyone ever went to Kipawa probably stopped there to buy licences get gas or anything else including propane and plumbing parts nuts bolts and outboard motor parts. If he didn't have what you wanted, he would get it for you. Pat was always at the store and  had great stories to tell you about the area, the lake  logging days including his own experiences of having an outfitting business and flying guests and supplies into the bush. He will be missed.

Indeed sad news. Met Pat a couple times, loved to rummage around his store as he had stuff in there spanning several decades of life on Kipawa....and he always took the time to chat with us. I recall once when my cousin Marco told him that he wanted to have his picture taken with him as Pat was such a 'celebrity' of the area. Pat simply and humbly stated, in somewhat astonishment, "You want to have your picture taken with me?" I'll have to look around for that pic...I've got it somewhere.
