My internet has been down the last couple of days. I'm back on now. lake Maclaughlin is mostly free of ice I can boat to Mackenzie camps and probably into Grindstone. There's a bay that goes south from here with less current and it's still freeing up but clearing by the day. lake level is down large but filling daily about 2 inches a day. Hoping to be able to troll for lakers soon.

what do you use for internet while you're at Kipawa?

Satellite internet via explorenet. Slow but it's my only option.

OK thanks Puckster.  I'm familiar with xplornet.  I used it at my camp in Ungava.  Very slow but when that is your only option, you slowly get used to it and it is better than nothing for sure especially over the old Spilsbury SPX11 radios that used to be our only way to communicate. I also have Iridium sat. phones but it is nice to learn that cell phones work up there.  Anyone signing up or know if the new starlink is going to work or at some point be available.  Puckster, did xplornet let you set up or did you have to have a tech come set up for you?  Thanks

A tech set me up. Service has been good. My system was down and I went to a neighbours place and caller, via viber, tech support. After the usuall over the phone we decided a service call was necessary. Denny the tech was here in a couple of days with a new modem and he realigned the dish. Except for being ridiculously slow and somewhat too expensive. I'm content with the service.

Hi, I'm brand new here and don't know, maybe a new thread on internet providers?  Anyways we've signed up for Starlink because have one daughter in University and the other only a couple years behind and too much "education" is  online now.  We have given the deposit and are waiting for the next step, heading up April 19 and will see what the app says about location etc and will share the info here.  At least the postal code they asked for was accepted.

I'm on Hunter's lake and sometimes if the sky is clear, no obstructions to the tower, with Bell, I get 2 bars.

There's no way the ice will last until May. Nipissing is broken up pretty good. Have a look at this.
