Arrived home here in Ottawa just before 2:00 PM
Had a very busy week with our Hosts, Grant and Lyn.
I doubt if anybody in all honesty can say that what SmithBay Outfitters has to offer is No ways near being over the moon.
Friendliness, assistance, just being great hosts and able to pick and choose their clientele. Trouble free setting right from the word GO.
We had a couple of great trips out, catching walleye in very decent numbers all around the lake. We have gained knowledge of a very healthy Walleye population in the lake, catching many just under the slot, enough for 2 meals, 1 fish each per person, and a nice 8lb eye which graced my line for a decent fight, only to be conservation released beside the boat.
We also turned attention to the Lakers in Loon Bay, and up in lake at N.E. end.
Memory serves me correctly, one 8lb Laker caught and released, another 4 lb.Laker and a couple of shakers all on the jig.
Toss in a Whitefish and a pike, I'd have to say we were kept busy.
Did a lot of Side Imaging and found an old submerged Dock. My first cool find. No sunken vehicles. Did find a lot of very interesting structure and future fishing sites, everything being in place.

Thanks for your trip report plowjock. Sounds like you and your friends had a very enjoyable trip in that area of Lake Kipawa. I did 17 trips over 14 years in those waters - we always stayed at 3 Seasons Camp. There's at least 5 underwater humps out in Hay Bay and they tend to be productive in mid to late summer. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Nice report...thanks for posting. I've never fished that part of the lake, but through reports over the years I feel like I have learned a lot about it.
Embrace every moment...you only get it once

Jay, Thanks for your reply.
I'm new to Lake Kipawa and learning fast.
Grant at Smithbay Lodge has been very helpful, along with his good wife,Lyn.
Between Humminbird and observation, you find a lot of information out.
Navionics does a so-so job but leaves a lot to be desired.
I understand that you're from the Eastend of Ottawa. I'm right at Fisher and Baseline.
