Greg

Good evening everyone...

Brent (FortWisers), Chris (Hodgey1) and I would like to announce a few things... after several years (decades?) Nancy will be stepping back from running and administering the KipawaFishingForum.net.

Nancy has been administering KFF for years and has brought us all together.  I have found this forum to be a huge part of my Kipawa trips, friendships, and general information about the lake.  Over the years, I have attempted to contribute positive content to help and encourage others have successful trips to Kipawa and I thank Nancy for opening that door, hopefully you do as well.  Nancy has put forward a significant amount of her own personal $$ to keep the Forum alive for years by paying for the annual domain name registration and hosting fees.  I hope I speak for us all here... Nancy, a gigantic thanks for doing this for so many years and you will always be an "Honorary Admin".  Nancy, we will NOT miss you because we hope that you are NOT going anywhere and you will always have a voice at the admin-table.

Brent, Chris and I met over Zoom last night and talked about how we move forward, we have some new ideas and some priorities we want to focus on.  Brent has already been doing regular backups of the database (in case of any catastrophic outage, we do not want to lose any of the valuable historical data).  Chris has already renewed and paid for the next year of annual hosting fees (Brent and I are going to be covering off 33% each).  During a 2 month outage of the forum a while ago, Brent also identified the problem and brought the forum back online quickly - so that means he is elected the official "technology guy"  ;D

As for ideas... well we established some priorities... do some clean up activities, document processes (such as backups and add new users) amoung the three of us and share those documents (we did some of this already today via private emails).   We want to enhance the Forum by adding some security (certificates - HTTP versus HTTPS) and of course, the years and years of frustrations around uploading pictures (we don't know if this can be solved, but certainly we hope to explore).  Of course we all lead busy lives with our jobs, family and planning fishing trips, so this will not happen over-night - and really, this is a hobby for us so we don't want to introduce urgency.

Other ideas, but further down the road - explore sponsorship & donation opportunities (to fund future year's fees) and "market" the fishing forum a little more to gain more solid members who frequently visit and contribute (positively) to the discussions.  If you have any specific positive/constructive ideas you would like us to consider, please private message me and I will table them with Brent and Chris.

We ask the legacy members welcome new members and support their contributions and discussions.  We also will revisit the general rules which Nancy published in April 2014 - 8 years ago - however, they still seem applicable and solid today (they are posted below).

Thanks to everyone, and again, thank-you Nancy for entrusting us to continue what you started.

   Stay safe...
            Chris, Brent and Greg

General Rules... We live by the Golden Rule here: treat others how you would like to be treated. We are all a nice bunch around here and will no way tolerate bullying, flaming, name calling, prejudice, sexual comments, swearing and spam.

Deleted or Locked Posts; The first thing to remember is if you want to feel welcome, do not start name calling the administrator. The best way is to send the administrator a personal message voicing your objection.

This is a family fishing forum open to children, so we must act like adults and be quality adult representatives.

Please do not post copyrighted material.

Avatars should be no larger than 90 x 90 pixels.

This is not necessarily a hard and fast rule, but since we are all a friendly bunch, I would highly encourage everyone to introduce ourselves with info like where you are from, species targeted, and anything else you would like to share.

Thanks for the great post @Greg
Many, many thanks to @Nancy for all her hard work over the years in setting up and maintaining such a great forum.
Hopefully we can continue to provide everything she has done in the past.

Take care everyone!

Thanks Nancy.  I have learned a lot on the KFF and look forward to continuing the conversations.

I guess I can be called a ditto head.  I've been called worse!  Lard ass comes to mind. Thank you so very much Nancy for all you have done, and to Greg, Brent and Chris for keeping the site possible for hopefully, many years to come. For me, this site has been a welcomed relief from all the crap that the world has spewed forth, the last couple of decades. The information posted here coupled with the camaraderie among friends, sooths like Preparation H applied to burning hemorrhoids....  Uh, not that I would know....  Just sayin.

You don't get these days back.  Live each day as if it were your last and one day you will be right.

Huge Thanks to Nancy for years of her hosting all of us in this virtual living room. I have said this many times over my years here, I would not have found Kipawa without the help I received here. For that I am forever grateful to her and the many great participants here!

Many thanks to @Fort Wisers Brent & @Greg for agreeing to work together to keep the site alive.

Thanks so much @Nancy for all the years and $ you have given to this site.  I jump on at least four times a week (sometimes more) and always enjoy it even if I don't give my two cents worth...

Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.

Many thanks to Nancy for starting this up. Our first trip to the area (Ogascanan) was in 2016 and the forum was VERY helpful in planning a successful trip.

And thanks also to Brent, Greg, & Chris for picking up the forum keeping it alive. I return here often after ice fishing season to get new tips & ideas for our (nearly) annual trip. We missed 2020 due to the pandemic, but were able to return to Canada for our first stay at Alwaki Lodge. Looking forward to our return trip in July.

Thanks guys for stepping-up and taking the reins from Nancy; she served us all well over the years and we can be forever thankful.

I would think digital ads at a nominal cost (compared to bigger sites) would easily pay for the cost of the site in no time. If only (4) outfitters shared rotational ad space at X.xx, all done on covering costs. No reason to stop there either; Pronature, IGA, Au Bercail, Temrose, Stop 102, etc. etc.

Thank you Nancy! And thank you Brent, Greg and Chris for all your work as well. The forum has always been a great resource with fantastic members.
