Pre-arrival Border Testing

The federal government is expected to announce as soon as tomorrow that travellers entering Canada will no longer have to take a pre-arrival COVID-19 test, CBC News has learned.

Sources with knowledge of the matter confirm Canada is removing the testing requirements at airports and land border crossings.

Currently, travellers entering the country must show proof of a negative antigen or molecular test within a day of their flight or arrival at the border.

Haven't been able to keep up with requirements for American guests (my brother and family) coming across the border to fish.  Do they require all boosters?  Or just double vax + proof?  What about the tests and isolation and/or quarantine? And what are the age limits for kids on what they need?  Any help would be appreciated.  We sure would like to plan for this summer.  It's been too long

The app is pretty easy and efficient to use to upload proof of vaccination and passport data.  Should be a breeze to cross in July (I hope)!  Hope the app is secure.

So I admit I have not looked at the app at all yet, but is it best for a group of 4 to put us all on one phone or should each do it individually?  If it even works that way?  Hope that makes sense.

If all are in same vehicle, you can do from one phone.
Just son and I went last year.  Did his 1st…then came to tab that stated something like “add traveler”.  So we just added me there.  No issues.

If traveling in different vehicles, I’d do a separate app at least for each vehicle and the persons inside it, if not for each individual.

" Under the changes taking effect at 1 a.m. today, unvaccinated or partially vaccinated children ages 5 to 11 who are entering Canada won’t have to show proof of a negative test for COVID-19 so long as they are accompanied by a fully vaccinated parent, stepparent, guardian or tutor. Children younger than 5 already don’t have to show proof of a negative test. Partially vaccinated or unvaccinated travelers ages 12 and older who are eligible to enter Canada will still have to show proof of a negative test.

The requirement that travelers provide a quarantine plan will be abandoned not just for fully vaccinated adults, but also for children ages 5 to 11 who are accompanied by a fully vaccinated parent, stepparent, guardian or tutor.

In addition, fully vaccinated travelers to Canada will no longer have to do the following for the 14 days after their arrival:

• Wear a mask in public spaces.

• Monitor and report if they develop symptoms of COVID-19.

• Quarantine if a traveling companion reports symptoms or tests positive.

• Maintain a list of close contacts and locations visited.

However, Canada will continue to require that visitors show their vaccination status and other personal details in the ArriveCAN app."
