SO finally the trip had arrived after several cancellations the crew of 9 got on the road from the Albany area. We had added two new fisherman to our crew from previous years. Crossed over into Canada , after filling up with gas and duty free, at Prescott without any problems. After an uneventful trip except for a collegial stop by Mr OPP, we arrived at the Tem Rose. Met some nice people going to 3 seasons and Ogascanan. After our IGA trip and getting our fill of poutine and Blue we were ready to get on the water the next day.
Jump off day, started with beer, ice and leeches purchases then met Brian at the dock at 9. Smooth arrival we were set up in cabin 6 and 9. The view from 6 is amazing!.   Throughout the next days we caught a lot of small , slot and a few over the slot. We hit a few of the spots that T Bone was kind enough to suggest and really expanded our spots to fish using his advice.  The largest fish of the week was a 29 1/2 walleye , we also had a 24 and 23 inchers.  Have to say we had no problem filling limits and were on fish almost every move.
we mostly used 1/8 jigs with leeches which were very effective. Some worm harness dragging did occur and was effective at times but we used this more when we were moving to other jigging spots. We got into the habit of turning on to smallmouth fishing about 10 am . We used Ned rigs with great success, several 18-20 inch smallies were boated. These fish may be invasive but can they fight and they are good to eat as well. Cleaning several i checked their contents and they all had crayfish in them.  We caught only one tiny pike and I actually lost a ~20 incher off the dock at Alwaki.  The walleye were in about 20 feet of water the smallies in 10 and less.   Our party doesnt laker fish mostly since thats the fish we target much of the winter.
Brian along with his family did not disappoint. The hospitality was outstanding. We rented 2 boats and each of those had engines that were well tuned up. The sad part is the uncertainty of the future of the lodge. We were lucky to get out there twice but sad that this might be our last stay at the lodge.
Our return back to the states was uneventful and our stop at Alexandria bay duty free insured that we helped stimulate the economy a bit more.  Now we start planning for next year

Great report. Sounds like a good time!
Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.
